They can't just keep on cracking stuff for their whole life & that too for free.
Its something like this, They learn to crack, they crack & finally they are being hired by some company.

I do appreciate their work. There were countless VSTs and other software that I had gotten a chance to try fully and was thankful, because a LOT of them I wouldn't buy for the sake of them being useless.

I know that an official SSL or Neve console can range up to hundreds of thousands of dollars/euros, so I know when UAD or Waves sell it for $499 or even $1000, it's a deal. But when you're not working, or working a crap job barely making bills, etc. That $499 feels like $499,000.00.

And I'm not saying: "If you can't afford it, just take it" or "it should be provided to you," but if it's there, why not utilize it. Every .nfo or .txt I've read implored me to "buy the software I use."

 

Why do crack Teams retire?
Well, there can be many reasons but a TEAM lives of its coordinated work,
if this coordination does not work anymore it's time for a change.

Reverse Engineering/cracking software requires a lot of patience & knowledge.
Not always people have enough time to do a meticulous and unpaid work!
I think people's expectations are too much, once you start publishing cracks.
So sooner or later you'll end up tired of them and slowing down.
It's not like some folks believe that they quit for "special OS requests".

I also have some reverse engineering skills but after the collaboration with
Team xdb I've started to work on my own. Releasing software on public sites
has its risks and negative sides. I prefer to share my cracks privately,
so the developers don't put too much new traps and protections in their stuff!

 

Why do Teams like Team ASSiGN, Team AiR etc Retire?

No but seriously we're building it on a totally different engine and it's not going to be dark, don't know what made you think that. AudioZ was already not that bright to begin with before we relaunched and we chose to make it more like a nightclub because let's be real, you get some pretty sweet service in that place and it's a great place to hang out (when someone isn't having a fit for one reason or other). I think the use of darker colors really lends itself to that kind of vibe...to quote Kontakt Guru: the city life. AudioSex is the country life, we're just going to modernize it and give her some sweet features. It's going to be truly excellent, I can PROMISE you that. *yes*

I imagine... like anything else, at first it's a welcome challenge and a passion to succeed. Then after years of doing it and realizing the outcome... it either gets frustrating, boring and/or life becomes more important in lieu of the little reward.

 

why does anyone retire?
1. they have free will
2. they have a life
3. they owe you zero

 

i think it will come to an end because the whole industry gonna move to a iTunes/netflix like system where you pay your monthly fee and can use any plugin on the planet.
thats what i see coming sooner or later.

 

Later I hope. I agree, they will turn these perpetual licensing scheme into a kind of renting on a monthly basis.

But I fear, they will use methods like Adobe. You have to pay your monthly fee but when you are not able to pay anymore you won't get access to your own work anymore. Software incarceration systems.
