    Hey guys,

I posted my first production a couple of weeks ago, and I took all advice possible, spent hours on youtube to improve and make something new and more professional.

The link to the track is below. I would really appreciate feedback from you guys especially on the "sound engineering" part of the track. I think the "taste" of it would be quite subjective, but what would definitely help is understanding how I could improve the sound itself!

Lil kick heavy in my opinion, Id reduce the kick by about -2.33554664 db. But not bad.

Nice sound, just maybe the snare and the hi-hat are a little to in front, and they grab the attention. Maybe down their level a little bit so they don't "steal the show" from the main sound

Is this really melodic techno? Sounds more like a house style to me. Anyway.

When the bd kicked in I went like :woot:.
Hell, how deep is it going? 40Hz? (Couldn't download which confuses me).

I have to semi agree with 11Fletcher. Sn & hh are too upfront and maybe lowering is enough levelwise but I would try to apply some room too.

I'm listening with Beyerdynamic DT 880 pro headphones and I agree that the Bd is not only too loud but may need some EQ. Once this is done, you will probably need to re-equilibrate the snare and the HH too.

This is awesome feedback thank you guys. I will focus on the kick especially as it's too obnoxious I agree. After that I will adjust the rest of the drums accordingly! Funny enough, now that I have "finished" the toughest part of the track I am not really sure what to do with it haha this is really for a passion, I never considered a career in production or anything like that. But I have to say, the satisfaction is 100% worth it. I will repost after changes

No, no, kick is great. It's full, warm and has character, I wasn't just prepared for this :). Maybe some small adjustments but I wouldn't replace and/or totally change it.

If I was changing this kick, it would be only a very tiny bit. I think it suits the sparse track to have a massive kick, I would just go with a narrow EQ to very carefully scoop out a litte of the overbearing "Wommm" from the kick sound but basically keeping it unchanged. After the kick gets the pimple popped, I would probably reach for the Flux Bittersweet to play with the high freq transients in this, hopefully to make them a little less brittle, so they blend in with the rest of the composition.

It's a great track, the use of delays and space reminds me of the epic soundtrack for the movie "Stalker". I think the intro needs something more hooky and non-metric going on, to keep the ears curious until the main course begins. Had that feeling of wanting to quit during the long intro. Maybe some field recording could do it, if you're set on holding the harmonic pads out for later on.

Ok, so right down to it, and sorry to be very blunt but if you want to improve and not be flattered that's what you need :)
The kick doesn't cut it. It sounds muffled and needs to be replaced completely, eqing the thing will not suffice.
The break is waaaaay too long. Plus, it's boring. Why? Because almost nothing happens. The break is where everything collapses into a giant dramatic crash and from there a volcano starts to evolve and erupt into the big main part. But don't be put off, the break is always the hardest part.
Your track is really more like harmonic techno, not melodic techno. Why? Because there's no melody!
    Keep it up!

Hello fraifikmushi, despite my silence your advice has been taken into account and I just posted my new production, which I think hurts ears a little less than this one haha Your feedback was 100% accurate and I think I just preferred to start a new project form scratch than EQing and revisiting all parts of the track I posted here.
