My first computer was also a Vic 20. I first learned BASIC on it, then later assembly. We loaded programs from cassette tape! What did that have, 1.2K RAM?

In windows 7 there can be issues with usb drivers related to the upper and lower filters. in device manager open up the driver detail and look under the usb driver for any file that relate to filter like amdfilter or similar. remove these files from system32 restart computer and try again. These files play havoc with latency also

The first computer in the house, on our street actually, was a TRS-80 my father had bought at Radio-Shack in 1976.
It brings back memories with the cassette deck and books of listing my father made me type in. That's how I learned BASIC.

It was a 2K ram and it costed a fortune to upgrade it to 4k...

I think I still have it somewhere in a box. Don't know if it still work though.

You mean a *powered USB hub*, don't you? Those are more expensive but worth it.

Glad to hear that you solved your issue. :like:
I myself got some problems with USB and at the end found it was a broken dongle, as I said in my post above. Before that I thought USB hardware couldn't be damaged. Silly eh?!
Now, if something is malfunctioning and there is no other evidence I check the whole USB chains first (and the're quite long btw.)
Sometimes it seems like USB is behaving like SCSI a little :)
