Well put and I couldn't have said it better. Great music is sonic sculpture. You have to work hard to reveal the inner thought behind the music. I can't say I've ever perfected it myself, but I still try.

 

It's not a 90s' Boom Bap beat but it is dope.
I think the clap should be layered with a snare but that's just a personal thing.
It sounds good though.
