Thorn is a software synthesizer that was designed to be easy to use and deliver awesome sound. In Thorn, being simple means to be straightforward and provide advanced sonic control at the same time. Intuitive workflow, high quality processing modules, light on the CPU, Thorn is ready to be put at the heart of your mix, in any genre of modern electronic music production.

    Features

Thorn offers 3 oscillators that utilize spectral synthesis method. This gives you control over all harmonics involved into the generation process of your sound. The oscillator provides sets of spectral and real-time effects to shape harmonics further. Of course FM, RM, PWM, Hard Sync implemented too.

Sound sources organized as spectrum tables of 16 frames with ability to edit and morph harmonics. The spectral synthesis gives ability to "post-process" all the generated harmonics with a special filter to colorize the output.

Two multi-mode, analog modeled filters with sensitive saturation stages available to charge your sounds and make it shine through the mix. There are 9 high quality effects, 3x ADSR envelopes, 3x LFOs, 2x multistage envelopes at your service in Thorn. 16-step flexible arpeggiator with MIDI output to generate rhythmic sequences available as well.

Additionally, Thorn provides a grid-based Glitch sequencer for maximum fun. Chop your sounds with the sequencer to get modern glitchy, stuttering effects.

Price: $69,00* (Regular $119,00) - More info here

I tried Diversion, the cpu hog. This looks usable. Now we have many Sylenth1 alternates (Hive, ANA, Synthmaster One, Thorn).

    Bought it right away.
For glitchy sounddesign, which i do alot, it's an absolute beast imho.
I think, together with Avenger, it's the synth of the year 2017 for me.

    Bought it this morning.
Nice UI and cpu-friendly even using FL Studio.

It seems that sound design is easier than ever; more than using Massive.

Looks like a great synth. I like the other Dmitry Sches plugins a lot. Hopefully we'll get a chance to try it out.

Yeah is a really cool synth and been designed well and at 69 is a bargain tbh
Been messing and is really easy to create your own presets.
Lots of room for cool stuff like modulate Harmonic filter, which is really cool with LFO and get some interesting results.
The arpeggiator is really easy to use and you can make some great sequences.
CPU usage is fine and had no problems
All in all, I think a really cool synth and if you like it & are able support the Guy as this a really fair price IMO for a really useful bit of kit :bow:

I am not saying it is a bad synth (I did not test the demo yet, just watched Youtube footage) but to me the UI - and this is affecting workflow - looks a bit dated. I'm seeing what Avenger and Serum are able to: Presenting what currently happens to the signal, presenting what currently is happening in the modulation department. I cannot help, but I am expecting this for any synth now. Also, ease of use in drag+drop modulation plus fine tuning in a mod matrix.

What?? I did not suggest anything. I really meant what I said.. I just read what you wrote and had the sound in my head.. thats all. Maybe you got it the wrong way..??
    :mates:
The "nice lil synth i like it" part would be the hook..

Btw. Thx for letting me know about your (I'd say pretty entitled) opinion about me, which you not even indicated as one :bleh:

Since using FAW Circle, I wish all the soft-synth GUIs are as functional and easy to use as Circle. Why don't developers get it that we need a GUI that is very easy to use [easy to see modulation source/targets for instance] and you can see what's going on with the sound easily. That's the most important thing for any sound designer. It could have a Windows 95 look, but developers should put more thought into visibility of important stuff like routing. That's the first and foremost problem I have with soft-synths - too many creativity killing tabs, 100s of tiny controls, spending too much time on figuring out what is doing what even though I'm a proficient sound designer. I can only imagine how people who are not as proficient in synthesis must feel using some of the more complicated VSTis out there.

No wonder so many people just use presets and are so worried about having the most comfortable and fast preset browsers! Rare VSTis are inviting for sound design. I would nominate Circle for the best GUI design [functionally] of the decade. Also, I love the design of all u-he synths.

Thorn's GUI *looks* nice and it's not that bad to use at all, but it could be better.
