I use Hear by ircam which does the same as redline monitor and I put it after reference.

Sonarworks delivers as promised. I reported on this again sometime ago. A friend of mine bought it because he was doing serious work but had to wear headphones for a long period of time. I tried it myself too, only in my friend's place not in my studio and i was kinda blown how accurate it was. Their mic is a typical measurements mic, i'm guessing you could get 95% or more of the same job with another similar mic. I thought the speaker emulation was the best i 've heard.

    Thanks!

I agree, sonarworks works best for me.

I tried the demo. And I use Toneboosters morphit now.
My headphones are AKG k812 -& AKG 702 and beyerdynamic dt 990 and 880.

In my opinnion a headphone calibration software is worth it. My headphone mixes sound a lot "closer" to my monitors.
I use waves nx with morphit, this combination comes really close to monitor mixing.

I am not sure if a costum headphone calibration is worth it. I am happy with morphit. In my opinion the "default" Sonarworks software or morphit is worth the money for sure. Did not compare a costum calibration to the default.

Have you checked the bass response on sonarworks vs morphit when comparing them to your speakers? sonarworks comes a lot closer imo. Or am i mistaken in this?
Can you tell me what the difference is with IRCAM Hear vs Redline monitor? they sound very different at the base preset.

They use different techs to do the same thing. So the result vary, it's pretty subjective to say which convinces you the most, also the gui aspect of things and the cpu use. Redline uses filtering, room sim, freq dependant delaying and midside processing to do the trick. Hear uses binaural tech to do it (and at core it's also filtering, so some might argue it's the same, but ircam is this big lab in France that has been studying sound and such matters since decades, before doing plugs, and I supsect they have their own special recipe to do it)

I did not compare sonarworks vs morphit. Side by side. I bought morphit cause for 30 bucks you cant go wrong. I dont use the presets of morphit anyway. I just "morph" my headphones "more to flat". On my 812 for example i only use 80% of the preset morph and on my 702 i use 110%. All I can say is it is working. I can mix for an hour on my headphones and the result is really close to the result i would get if i mix an hour on my monitors.
A lot closer as if i mix without a correction plugin on headphones.

Someone posted this already in another thread, but I can't locate it.
Which headphone profile in Sonarworks matches the Samson Sr850's? I thought it was one of the ACG's, but don't remember specifically which one. I'll write it down this time if anyone answers.
I want to try stripping a project down, and doing a complete remix this way just to see what kind of result I end up with. Having translation problems with low end that I can only hear on a system with subs. I think my room is killing the low end clarity.

    Sounds promising.
How are the 812? Do they feel comfortable, are they that more analytical compared to your 702?

I have the same problem i guess.

When i look at the frequency correction curve for my K702 in morphit, the bass correction curve is WAY lower than in Sonarworks. I have noticed I can come to a more accurate mix on the Sonarworks reference tools, at least that's what i think...

You may want to check out the B2031A , Genelec knockoffs, from Behringer. They sound very similar to a lot more expensive Adams and they also have room correction options on the back so you can fix certain problems especially with the low end in an untreated room.
You can probably get em cheap used. They are very cold/honest.

Hey guys, FYI, after @TW's comment i decided to try out IRCAM hear v3 suggested by @Talmi with Morphit on 117%.
and i've been comparing the sounds to the clean master out of the speakers, and it is a good replica of my AKG k702's!

So I can advise: try out settings with morphit and ircam or redline, and see what matches your speakers best.

A question to Sonarworks users......Do you all have its legit calibration files (for your headphones, of course)?

Here is a paraphrase from someone (forgot who) on the forum:

Straight away download the software from Sonarworks; they will send an activation code.
    Activate the trial version.
Copy the Sonarwoks project folder from Documents and place it on desktop then uninstall the software.
Install V.R version, paste the copied Sonarwoks project folder from desktop to Documents and that's it.

But then how do you know what settings to use on the back? How do you confirm the 'honesty'?

You can measure the acoustics with a measurement mic. Also there is a diagram on the back for basic guidance.
