Honestly i havent tried em. Got so much stuff to test that i rather ask you guys and gals who have been working with it, if its worth to have it, has it made a difference to your mixes, especially when you take your mix to monitors?
Particularly interested in the headphone calibration.
Does it have the crossfeed simulation/option?

some times ago, was watching a promotional (that's what it is) video for waves plugins on youtube.
it was tony maserati demonstrating his latest plugin.

he started the video by saying : "I don't use these plugins in my mixing sessions, I use hardware compressors, etc.. "
    :woot:
basically, he was selling us sh*t he don't even use with his name on it.

so far, I'm not surprised, I've been around "real-studio-guys" , and they don't use plugins, or not that much for pro mixes, or for mastering.

so, even if I like waves plugins, they're useful when it's your only option, I don't think any software could compare with class A pro hardware

    BUT

i.e, izotope plugins are really good - instruments or sound treatment plugins - the IRCAM has a vocal transformer soft that is excellent ( I know I'm a bit off topic here, but it's a must watch if you don't know it yet )

to answer your question, I think it's hype. know your headphones / speakers /try different versions of your mix on various sources

I'm not sure about Sonarworks, but I've been using Tonebooster's Morphit, which works under a similar principle, and I really like it...I feel like it makes my headphones sound flatter, like it promises.

Alright it's a sonarworks reference question so I will talk about this plugin, not about waves (which doesn't offer such plugin) nor ircam (same here, completely ot, as well as izotope) or tonebooster (also a different one, i read in another topic that they complete each other well, I've never tried it so I wouldn't review a tool I never tried). Sonarwork reference works extremely nicely, I have been using for a year or so and it works well. Just check if your headphone curve is included.

Nothing special in my book and not worth the money they ask for that IMHO. ToneBooster's Morphit should give you the same, if not better results. I don't use correctional software because I don't believe in it, but I use Redline Monitor at times when I don't want to play music very loud [3 AM?] to give me the impression I'm listening through the monitors. It does work pretty well and I think of it as "3rd opinion" listening!

Redline Monitor, Tonebooster's Isone and Goodhertz Can Opener are really nice, Can Opener being my favorite. All of them will complement either Sonarworks or Morphit really well.

Redline monitor also isn't the same as morphit and reference. More in the line of Hear Ircam, which works very nicely in combinason with Reference.
And it's not really a matter in believing in the tool, it's more the problem of headphones having to be corrected. Unless you have a headphone perfectly flat (and etremely expansive) you might need one of those. But of course anything can be replaced by something else.

So you could combine these two? As i see sonarworks doesnt have the crossfeed option (could be wrong) and redline monitor does?

Yeah, one will correct your headphone's EQ to make it sound flatter or to simulate other headphones, the other will try to simulate the characteristics of listening to music on actual monitors on headphones...Combined, these features take headphone mixing to a whole new level.

I really couldn't live and work without it anymore, especially the monitor version... rarely use my headphones, but it's the same.

Yeah that's what redline does, hear does crossfeed correction too, and reference only correct the curve. There are also speakers you can simulate in reference, so in a way you can do crossfeed in reference but then your curve gets "uncorrected" since it applies the curve of well known monitors that color the sound. With reference you have to use another one in addition, maybe it's not the case with morphit, which would make it a more complete tool tbh.

I've been using Sonarworks @AKG K702 here and it helped my mixes amazingly.
However I am going to try Redline with it now. Should I insert this before or after the Sonarworks eq on the masterbus?

Also, I felt Morphit and Sonarworks give different results, so experiment for your headphone.
Morphit is a little low on the bass response, so i use Sonarworks.

    Anybody have a different opinion?

Does anybody know how we can make a profile for our headphone? It should be easy I think. Just need to mic our headphone, then calibrate with relation to a certain graph.
    found these:

However no sound in the video!
