No, they as others have said aren't interchangeable. However, like most things there ARE ways around it. Do what you want to do in Cubase then save the stems as wav files using Channel Batch Export. These can then easily be imported into Ableton.

 

Yes, but if something dont work. I must open again proyecto in Cubase and all this is very hard. However, is good option. Regards!

 

You could use JACK if you can stand the configuration of both Audio and MIDI. Or use it only for audio and use virtual MIDI ports. You’d probably need hardware to get a solid tempo sync between the two because they’d both be running stand-alone. It becomes easier if you run each program on a separate computer because Ableton will try to go into ReWire slave mode if you have Cubase open already. Use options.txt to disable this.
