any combination or all of these sound great together. it somehow surrounds instead of overpower the original signal. It's sort of a reverb with delays

It's an 8 minute noodle opus at various points I'm adding or subtracting single repeats of delay. I had a hair brain idea to try sending the delays to Valhala Shimmer in the middle.

    Sounds Great )

It sure seems the delay times are exponential

remember, Reverb is just a collection of (quiet) delays. You're basically making your own reverb here.

Still, it's interesting that exponential delay times fit well.

    it's the Fibonacci numbers.
I should add 8, 13, 21, and some higher ones too

As long as each number isn't a multiple of the rest u won't get combing artefacts.

I think good reverbs use prime number-based delays to avoid combing.

ED: just realized, u may still get combing w/prime no.s, but the prime use is to avoid acidentally reinforcing/duplicating taps

Damn, I think I get it now... but they don't need to be from the Fibonacci series, just primes, right?

A IR based reverb is literally like a multi-purpose delay.

an convolution engine not just takes time information but also the spectrum into Its calculations.

But using a IR to create delays might be a bit 'stiff', since you would need time synced IR's if you like to keep things in sync to the song temp :)

I agree. It's just that for reverbs is easier to understand convolution in time domain like a "multi-delay", or "multi-averager".
And when used for eq you can picture it better in the frequency domain. At least the magnitude, phase is a nasty difficult thing...

You can multiply the numbers by 1.618 (golden ratio)

just set your delays according to the tempo of the song and you are ready to go :) if they are not synced you will get in trouble

@Grandy Dotted 8th notes? Edge has been there and we have all done that.

It's the out of 'sync trouble' that gives these ms combos, magical healing powers. It's also a time machine. Makes you want to noodle for hours forgetting the concept of time.

In Ableton I usually have all the delays assigned to an exp. pedal to control when I want all or just some of them. Send a sustained note to the max but then quickly decrease for faster passages.
