Don't hurry. It's just a simple preview. No link available for download yet.

    NOTES:

    • Yes its time signature changes.
    • Yes the UIs will be improved.
    • Yes the time icons are too big.
    • Yes you can set Pattern Clips and the Playlist independently.
    • Yes it will be easier to set all this in the final version.
    • Yes you can put different time-signature clips on the same Playlist time for polyrhythms.
Time signatures are all about and only about the UI. That is grid lines for the Playlist & Piano roll ... and where the Metronome downbeat falls, that's it! All these time-signatures are possible now, but yes, less convenient and more confusing if you can't stop yourself looking at the bar ruler numbers.

My music friends cum music-teacher visited me. And we were trying to record his wonderful guitar play. As i played the metronome in Fl Studio, he couldn't believe and asked me, "Is that a metronome?" It was an insult to my fav DAW :( Even I agree, it's metronome is confusing & irritating. Will Fl Studio makers do something about it? I want to hear "Yes, the metronome is fixed!" :)

I still won't use this DAW until they make options for sorting the VSTs to the folders that I have them installed to instead of dumping all 1000 of them into generators/effects. It's still too messy for me. S1 or Bitwig for me until that happens

1000 VST's? And you blame FL for the mess? :D

    please, please, please:
can we have context sensitive right-click menu or similar.
something where you can change your quantize and stuff like that.
customizable layouts and display options would be rain in the desert for me.
and allow us to pin where we want in the browser instead of it changing with a mind of it's own. these things would make FL quite superb.
an avid user would be rabid.
    thanks

well what i am saying is it is a lot of work to do that when the DAW could just give an option to do so in a menu instead of having to create literally 100s of folders and add each plugin to it basically (imagine doing that to all the waves stuff ugh) I have well over 1000 plugins. I just don't have to time to sort them myself or I would. I'll admit I am lazy but a simple "select all" from the more plugins list or even just allow to sort by folder name in my C:\VstPlugins folder and not even separate them by generator/effect except by icons only would be great. I know I am picky but that's how I roll. Bitwig and S1 have the option to sort by vendor and/or folder name and that is what I am looking for in FL. Thanks for the info tho.

it doesn't take much effort to sort out the data base for plugins. probs. only takes ten - fifteen minutes,
less probably for someone sharper then me..

Oh it's not a mess at all. I take the time to install them neatly. But I have always felt that FL studio lacked int he vst plugins sorting dept and I have no other issues with FL studio but that. Don't get me wrong I am not dissing FL studio whatsoever I just won't switch back until they meet my needs :) I used to use it a long time ago but I feel like a "graduated" from FL studio. I occasionally use it as a VST within my other DAWs tho just to get a beat started etc.

I'll look into it again. I'm trying to figure out all the bells and whistles in S1 right now lol. The struggle is real...

well give us a shout if you need some help.
i shall be back at my monitor again in a few hours.
i understand what a PITA fl can be, don't mean to sound patronizing...

edit: if it does sound patronizing, it is only because i understand the head-crushing torment that FL can be ( different horses for different courses of course - i am unable to learn renoise even though it looks tops ).... blah

I use FL studio quiet often to create song ideas and quick drum pattern. You really get good results fast. BUT! I have to agree with a lot of people here. It is kind of strange to go deeper into it. I just hate that you can't adjust tempos in arps or other parts of the daw in easy 1/8 notes or anything like that. Instead you have to fiddle around in a range from 1.00 - 3.00 to find the fitting tempo. Its cpu performance is crazy compared to REAPER! And the overall structure is terrible, at least in my opinion. BUT what i really like is the content browser for its quickness. But i also hate it becaue if its lacking deep search function. Lol :bleh:

Sorry i meant reaper not Reason

Native [wrapper] thing is horrible; try BlueARP, it''s a freebie.
Would I be able to verify this with FL & Reason demo version, side-by-side? What sort of a project should I set up, to compare the two?
    Not the best, won't lie.

Lol Sorry, i meant Reaper not Reason. How embarassing. :mad:Please don't get confused. I never used Reason.

Reaper is a by far the most cpu saving daw. Though it has endless possibillities and ways to create your own workflow, it uses a minimal amount of resources. No matter if cpu or harddisc. The downside is the plain gui. But thats okay in my opinion.

Just create a simple project with well known cpu hogs and compare. Sometimes a plugin in Fl studio uses 5% cpu while Reaper needs just 0,2 %, especially if the plugin gui is hidden.

    So sorry for my mistake:facepalm:

Just downloaded & installed it; will post when I figure out the basics... Thus far not too promising
    :( (Downloaded 64-bit version)

Edit: OK, got it going (had to kill those, will configure/do some housekeeping), will post back in ~1/2hr. Remain cautiously optimistic :D

Edit: Loaded a bunch of synth in both DAWs, looping the same notes/same preset/same tempo (not kidding). Both sitting & idling. What's odd is Reaper seems to be using a bit more memory. This is pretty far from a reasonable side-by-side comparison (I made them both use system sound driver, for instance, the only multi-client ASIO I have is FL ASIO), but there it is.

Huh? What are you doing?

You had to kill ...? I would say you don't have to configure anything. At least on my pc it works just from the start.

We already had threads where people posted the cpu usage of some daws with sometimes different results. By the way, there is a problem with FL studio because for some reason you have to use its intern cpu display - not the one in the task manager. Why? As long as I remember it shows what it can handle intern. More is not possible. Even if it shows just 40% in task manager it can't handle more if it hits the intern 100%. I don't no how to explain it correctly. So if I load a FL-studio project with many plugins and instruments, it quickly reaches the intern 90% cpu and begins to crackle and stop while the same Reaper project might use more cpu in the task manager but has still a lot head room in its intern measurements. Puh! Hope you understand my hieroglyphics. lol

Maybe someone else can explain it better. I'am not so the technical freak. :hillbilly:

Edit: Beside that it also depends on how your system is set up. For some reason my Acer laptop hates Fl studio since version 12.2 - maybe newer versions are better optimized. Have no idea.

    *put them down. [IMG]
You don't have to; it's not a problem: the two simply show 2 different things. BTW, unlike most who loop fruit, I'm not a huge Fruity cheerleader, it is what it is (basically what you said -- a neat sketch pad; more than enough for me).
