Similar to the likes of Hans Zimmer and Tom Holkenborg, I am just wondering if anyone here uses a touch screen as part of their workflow?

I have recently been migrating over to Studio One and been considering something like a 24" multi touch screen that I can lay flat on the desk (at an angle) that I can use to control mix faders etc on.

Just wondering if anyone else does something similar and for some tips and advice?

I've Got An Asus 24" With Yeco.io Software To Control Live9 And A Tablet With Touchosc On Android That Mapped To Traktor Scratch Pro .

IMO Using A Touch Screen and Live9 Is Totally Waste Of Time And Money , But In Traktor And Live Performance Is Pretty Handy

Bro I'm Not Agree With You , Because I Really Into This Touchosc , You Need To Do A Reaserch And Find What This Thing Does/do.

Edit: Touchosc Works With Android And Ios Connected Via Wifi Or Wared To Win/Mac.

i am into Touch OSC too that is what i said :D we are talking about pc mac touchscreens. not mobile devices

i said as long as there is no Touch OSC for pc or mac. , touchscreens are not much usefull for pc or mac . also mac has one disadventage... you need to buy a freaking expensive multitouch driver .... because native its not supported

I'm using two mobile phones with Lemur, an Android Tablet with TouchOsc or LK and a Surface Pro 4 with Yeko (eternal tryout), CTLRL and all is doing his job, and since this kind of apps are able to use ADB wired connection (via USB) the rig is stable as a rock.
Now I'm testing that: http://www.surface-editor.net/#/livepad .....and seems pretty cool (and free for now) :)

A recomendation, ever by my experience is to NOT use second monitor or "mirror" applications (Splashtop, etc), because inter-machine traffic grows like hell and makes latency so big that you can write a entire tracks inside it...so, unusable.

And here I found some old info that can be interesting also: http://www.livelooping.org/tools/control-apps/

    I hope it helps you,

I have a ipad and a copy of Lemur, but to be honest rarely use it. When recording, and playing around with ideas, my Komplete Kontrol keyboard is often so much simpler to use in the heat of the moment. In live situation, however the iPad comes in well handy as a programable extra controller.

I also don’t feel glass is really that good for tight but quick adjustments I find it a bit to resistant... if that makes sense...

Maybe I just have sweaty fingers J

I don't recommend buying a touch screen. working with a mouse is faster and easier. But as a touch osc it is helpful

For Studio One I use two 23 inch hp touch screens, one iPad using either Studio one remote/V control/Duet also use studio one remote on phone as well. Touch screen is the way to go, yeah I reach for mouse every so often. But when really into Mixing session I use the touch screens, super easy to use just drag a finger.

I've got touch screens for PCs. Problem is, that I don't like the finger prints all over the screens. So, frankly, I don't use it very much. But I use it and it's convenient for some programs.
Most programs are not really touch enabled, e.g. Steinbergs's Groove Agent would profit from touch, but doesn't support it and you need to use a mouse instead.

Touch only pays out for one or two monitors you can easily reach without much effort.

Yes, and using a Wacom tablet is even much faster, because you can reach any point on every connected screen without rolling the mouse the whole way, but directly jump to that point on the Wacom tablet.
It needs a little time and practice to come comfotable with it, but after that, you'll most likely never will use a mouse again. I've saved a lot of time not rolling a mouse hundreds of kilometers the last 10 years (... that I use more than one screen, 4 x 24'' Dell's at the moment).
But if one likes it more, keep on ... rolling, rolling, rolling ...

I have one. I dont use it (much). I could not integrate it into my workflow. Feels odd and produces a slow workflow for me. Mouse and a faderport and a keyboard works for me. Fast and easy and most important precise.

Actually, I have a touch screen and it's not a good idea to run a daw inside that because the mouse is much easier for lazy people. And as other people said the mouse is much much faster because the touch screen is not that much accurate for changing small nobs and faders. you should be all aware to not touch anything else and consumes body energy

I totally agree. On touch a screen the movements of the arms ar too stressful as you need to hold them up to the level of the screen all the time. It's just a matter of hours to get back aches.

But a "Wacom Tablet" is a whole other class of device. I've used it a long time when I was in graphic design. It's at least as accurate as a mouse but much faster. If you have a chance to test it, I'd recommend.

    Just googled some time:
If one has a spare touch screen, this one may help. Called "XOTO Pad". It's just faders, slider and keys at the moment (we'll see what develops...), but quite customizable and sends MIDI to the DAW. Not really a nice look, but works on Windows with a touchscreen.

I use DELL 24'' multitouch monitors (they were quite cheap last year). They have a good stand, that makes the monitor usable in a very flat angle.

I loved the idea of using a large touch monitor initially, but indeed reaching out for any position on a large touch screen all the time can be less efficient than just using the mouse/touchpad, on the other hand if the screen is too small you'll miss the tiny knobs and buttons.
If I go for a customized surface, I can choose the controls sizes the way I want, but then a cheap android or iPad tablet would do the job even better. Lemur still runs well enough even on an iPad 1, and together with the "LK" app it's my current choice for both controlling repetitive operations (mainly clip launches and piano roll edits) in Live as well as deep-editing my blofeld and some VST(i).

i've been thinking hard lately on getting the dual monitor Raven but now i think i'll just go with a better build on my production p.c. and go with Cubase and maybe the Acoustica Audio bundle.

The idea of a touch screen seems nice but it can't be comfortable after a few hours in a session.
