Hi we are Alche Beat, a producer duo from Athens, Greece.

We need your professional opinion on the mixing/mastering side of our latest release since it was a tricky one.

The track is a blend of Deep and ehmmm...let's say "Tropical" House but with Mediterranean and M. East sounds.
It sounds pretty exotic to western ears and has a summer vibe and a tripe-y feeling.

Because of the sounds we've used (eastern cello, oud, balaphone etc) we're not sure for the mixing and mastering result so we need your opinion and advice.

For the rendering of the videoclip we have used a 24bit 44,1kHz wav file so despite the conversion of the Youtube we think that the sound is pretty decent for your judgement.

I'm commenting on the music only .. sorry but it sounds disappointingly dull. The best analogy I can come up with is this: you have a pot on the stove full of wonderful ingredients, but you've held this ingredient back and put only a little of this and that, and you've ended up with an ok dish but no wow factor. That's what this track sounds like, dull and no wow factor. It sounds like the backing track for a holiday tv documentary. If you want a club hit, go back to that pot on the stove and if you increase the chilli or add some more of this and that, you'll have a 'wow' dish. Maybe the problem is no dynamics because it's over-compressed (?). But something in this track needs to pop out and hit you. Tracks in this genre need to need to be interesting; they need sounds that go up, down, in, out, stop, start. That's what dancing is. What would dancing to this track look like as it is now? It would be life-less. Hit people with your music. Make some of the sounds exciting. If I were you I would give the parts to a producer who knows that they're doing. You might have to pay for the service but you'll be glad you did.

 

I'd love to but it's pumping like crazy. My ears are bleeing and I'm listening to it below talking level.
The frequency range is spread ok.
Make use of the whole panorama. Dead centre we already know.
The arrangement is uninspired and uncharitable.

 

I decided to listen first, then read the comment above. I couldn't agree more with Thankful, nothing is happening in your song.
The problem is only partly about dynamics, it's the composition and lifeless mix. Back to the drawing board guys!

 

Waaay too distracting clip :D I had to listen to it with eyes closed cos the moment I opened them i was going def
A bit brightness on the cello might not hurt otherwise
Nice sound on the lows - kick/bass/sub line although a bit pumpy

 

The track is pretty damn good mate, so take the harsh comments with a grain of salt. Or a lot of salt.
You never know who or why is judging. Keep doing what you're doing, the track achieves everything a chill track wants to achieve.
I would say it even goes a step further, it doesn't really mimmick tropical house the least.

I'm happy to see something good posted in this forum for a change. Not that I care, but there's so much shitposting i feel people have forgot to use their ears.

It is a nice track. Not commenting about taste. But wow its pumping like meantioned allready. Too much for my ears with headphones. hurts ...

 

I listened to these materials first then decided to open my blasphemy-spreading threads being cursed by people imprecating a calamity upon me 24/7 but I'm a nice person.

Since you are commenting to our music and not to our mixing and mastering result we are thinking that we somehow misled you (and some others as well) when we referred to Deep and Tropical House while this track is a chill out and laid back "beach bar" track and not a club or festival banger. Say that this track will play from 10am until 10 to 11 pm during summer and mid-autumn.

If we've said that this is a chill out track maybe we've misled you even more. But here is the cause of the confusion.
The name of our band is Alche Beat and Alche comes from Alchemy or Alchemist since what drives us to produce music is to mix and match sounds and textures and techniques from different genres usually not mixed in the mainstream scene.

For this track it's obvious after the above analysis that we wanted a chill out/laid back track pointing to M. East music culture but based upon contemporary Deep House bass and kick. As a result even the "dance-ability" of this track is out of club context and leaning more to eastern way of dancing as can very clearly be seen to the video clip.

After all these we want a big big favor from you. Please do hear this track once more as well as the rest of our released tracks which also blends various EDM genres together and give us your valuable feedback to our music only or for the mixing and mastering as well.

To be honest.. Compared to what i heard here over the years its sounds great.. I dont know what others are using to listen but to me it sounds liek it should for this kind of music.. But on the other hand im a rock guy and just listen to music that sounds good, like in this case.. i think your fine.. or maybe all the hot girls in the video distracts me.. so.. a thumbs up from me..

The problem seems to those who listen through studio headphones from the output of their audio cards. Through studio or any other monitors including in ear monitors for mp3 players and smartphones there is no problem.

P.S For the mates who liked the video I'll send them the uncut version which is hotter!

Even a nice person can be cruel sometimes, even for the sake of change!

 

The pumping seems to be caused by a subby sound we've used to pronounce the bass. Through studio or pc monitors (or headphones for tablets, smartphones and flash mp3 players that don't go so low) it gives the right pumping we intended for.
The problem seems to be through the studio headphones that we missed to trim it correctly. To be honest on AKG K 271 MK II we didn't notice the extent of the problem...

Track is totaly ok relaxing atmosfer i like it but if track lack energy, put some vocalist female on this track she can lift it up totaly new dimension with vocals
