Traditional music theory works fine just in slow tempos. In faster tempos, groove dominates.

This is my opinion. Traditional music theory is like Newton's second law in slow tempos but in faster speeds other theories are needed. In faster tempos you don't have enough time to show your theoretical abilities. Let's hear yours.:bleh:

How one can be so wrong about everything is a wonder to me...
One word : Bop (be, hard, whatever)

Giant steps is nearly 300bpm and it relies on a complex (and a gamechanger at the time) progression of minor and altered dominant chords moving in thirds with the use of a huge scale vocabulary.

Every bop tune runs fast, has rich changes, various octatonic scales.

And no, it's not a problem when you actually know something about music.

If you had the chance to listen his music production attempts you'll notice that he has no perception of rhythm whatsoever and often pitch is not his best friend either. Also based on his "works", which are a monument of inseparation, I suspect that in high-tempo range his brain is unable to discern the individual instruments playing hence his coming up with theories that no sane person came ever

Obviously didn't give a damn. This guy is a winner.

    I find it ironic that this post is in the Education sub-forum. Because someone who was actually educated could never, ever, ever, make any of these wild-ass, off-based, ignorant accusations. And then back up their clearly uneducated points of view, with even less cognizant music, hence;
And the only time said poster post a finished song, it's always from some other artists' youtube videos.

PS. I'm not trying to insult, just state the facts so far.

You're such an idiot... Look up John Coltrane and his mind boggling improvisation on "Giant Steps" (he's soloing through the chord changes at cut-time!)... when you don't have a formal education in music, you have no right to argue musical theory. You just have to realize your musical shortcomings and either quit music or accept your mediocrity. Or shut the fuck up and study music theory...

I wish Foster would just do music for 1 year straight, every day without a single post.

That would be a giant step... For everyone ;)

    Dreams...

sickening how easy he makes it look too....

then what would he do without all the attention his professorial pronouncements,
and mediocre musical meanderings bring him?

I think in his mind he is doing something right because he keeps reeling so many people in...
I more or less gave up with the input a long time ago....

I'm not posting for his benefit.. just everyone who keeps taking the trollbait..

on a fast note.. or notes.. I have nothing but respect for this guy

My friends, I'm really sorry for my stupid thoughts hanging you over emotionally but I really haven't started out to hurt you.
Every style demands new stances to gain confidence internally to encourage you to press ahead with your production plans regarding objections. I'm not austere in my manner but sometimes I really can not find the usefulness of music theory in my productions.:mates:

    I'm suspecting a mental condition. That's all.
You might want to get your head checked. There's always hope, with therapy and/or medication. I wish you the best.
