Overloud has released Dopamine, an emulation of two classic tape encoding processors, used as enhancers, designed to revive individual tracks as well as complex mixes while preserving their natural tone. It is the fifth product in Overloud's Gem plugin line dedicated to mixing and mastering.

Overloud say Dopamine does not introduce unpleasant artefacts like the exciters do: it dynamically balances the harmonics that naturally exist in the original audio rather than generating non-existent harmonics by synthesizing them.

    Features:
    • Replicates the enhancing side of the tape noise reduction units.
    • Simulates two classic processors: the 180 and the 361.
    • Simulates two cartridges: the A-Type and the Stressor.
    • Naturally enhances the audio by balancing the harmonic content.
    • Allows to tweak the dynamic action of the effect.
    • Very low CPU usage: you can open the plugin on each track of the session with a negligible CPU load.
    • Lots of presets designed in real mixing sessions.

Dopamine is available as VST, AudioUnit and AAX plug-ins as well as stand-alone application, 32 and 64-bit for macOS and Windows operating systems at the introductory price of €89 / $89 until June 25th 2017. The list price is €139 / $139.

I think Acustica Audio's D361A plugin is the Dolby 361 emulation to beat.
I'll be happy if this comes close.

I doubt it, but would love to demo this.

Sounds very good in the YT demo though and compared to acustica it doesnt eat up your cpu.
Could be a great addition but not a substitute for D361A.

Meh. One can't be properly replicating analogue gear if you don't have the full Dirty Fader(tm) enhancement. Every turn of the pot and each fader twiddle should produce nasty crackling effects and dropouts. :o)

Hi guys. I' very impressed with dopamine(the tape is nice too). There great harmonic plugins there and this one is in same level of the best, imho. I love the tone of the 361, it's unique, the low end, the highs... No words. Total love
I was comparing with others as inflator, vitamin, vitalicer, aroma, etc... And it is pretty unique. The most similar sound i founded was with reviver(the most cheaper)
    Edit
    I dont tried with acustica

Yeah, and when "tape" tires out, what's gonna come next? 16-bit mid 80s CD-encoding emulation? Will it cover all three modes, AAD, ADD, and DDD? :bleh:
