Logic Pro 11 New version being released soon? we are curious thanks..

 

Hell no. They are currently working on the next shitty iOS, no time for serious apps.

 

No. They still have unfinished skins in X. A major update (if ever) will be built over X so without unfinished X unlikely a major update. They may be lagging also because Apple rumored ARM CPUs for their mac computers so probably they wait to see what they should do: a Logic Pro XI or develop the ARM Garage Band on steroids (it has already AUv3 support and Alchemy) to the level of LPX and build up from there.

 

I spoke someone from Apple support recently and this subject came also to the table. There are no upgrade plans at the moment (as far as he could tell).

 

Apple has put a long effort into finally getting Logic Pro version X to work well (esp. after having incorporated the Alchemy synth) - so maybe the time is due for them to re-develop a new version, full of bugs and incompatible with OS versions before the current one, while leaving version X suddenly unsupported. Or just drop Logic altogether and beef-up Garageband with some Logic-like features but more crap oriented toward beginners or utterly talentless musicians - such as some built-in melody creator.

That was before Apple changing focus from PC manufacturing to mobile devices. That was before Tim Cook taking over from Steve Jobs. That was... before.

 

LPX is still getting fairly sizeable bugfix updates at the moment (there was one fairly recently.)

When you haven't seen a new bugfix subrelease for more than a year, that's when I'd suspect a bigger version is coming.

Note that FCPX has gone to a version numbering scheme where the product is "FCP X" (ie 10), with 10.1, 10.2, 10.3 being fairly sizeable new feature versions (ie, FCPX v1, FCPX v2, FCPX 3v), rather than going to , eg, FCP 11, FCPX2 or whatever - the naming gets funky.

It's possible that Logic will following the same path (there were fairly big updates in 10.1, 10.2 and 10.3 with Logic, too...) and therefore staying, for the near future at least, as "Logic Pro X" - the next major version being LPX 10.4 (ie, LPX v4).

HIgh numbers are always problematic for consumer-facing retail software, and companies try to avoid them by renaming where possible. I don't think we'll see Logic 12, 13, 14 etc... it's just too clunky. An they definitely won't go roman numerals (LPXI, LPXII...) ;)

I'm happy with the current version running El Cap on a top of the range mac. I don't want to see users wishing to use a new Logic forced into buying faster machines, replacing out dated peripherals as they drop support for five year old standards. I have several useless firewire drives sitting collecting dust. Many are still adapting to Thunderbolt. I wouldn't put it past Apple to do something like replace USB with Lightning for greater iPad compatibility. Of course, they'll then sell you an adapter for $99, of which if you're like me, you'll need about five. So no. No no no to a whole new version of Logic. It's hard enough keeping up with changes as it is, not to mention the cost.

 

Lightning is USB v2.0 it would be impossible for Apple to do such a thing.

And actually the new Thunderbolt 3 is the first version speedy enough to drive a 4K monitor using a single cable. Sometimes the upgrades ARE useful.

On the other hand, I think anyone should document a little more before committing to a certain standard (for storage for example) especially knowing that Apple ditches old tech quite fast. Usually the less tech information one knows, the more expensive the usage of a computer becomes.

 

A few things:

If any Logic support representative tells you that there are no plans for Logic updates, then that person won't be there anymore when you call back a few hours later. He won't know anything about update plans, which are even secret between departments and if, he is not allowed to say anything. If he does on an official (monitored) Apple phone line, he would be on the street in no time.

Any past Logic update cycles have no relevance for any potential future update cycles. That data is just anecdotal.

I agree more with the other points that are made in this thread that we might not see any Logic Pro IX, because there is different thing going on if you pay attention.
"OS X" has been renamed to "macOS" followed by the version number v11, v12, etc
"Final Cut Pro X" is already referred to in my places as just "Final Cut Pro" without the "X", just followed by the version number 10.1, v10.2, v10.3
I wouldn't be surprised if "Logic Pro X" will also slowly lose its "X" and only refers to its version number, which is similar to Final Cut Pro, where sizable upgrades will only have an incremental number. So the next version might be v10.4, v10.5, etc.

At the end we don't know what's in the pipeline and we shouldn't lose too much sleep over that and spend our time instead using all the great features that are already in Logic and make music, maybe occasionally use the Feedback to let Apple know about bugs and feature requests.

 

A variable to consider is Apple's acquisition of Camel Audio a few years back. Apple may have decided to hold back on including Alchemy in 10 if Logic 11's release was imminent (relatively speaking).

Alchemy was an incredible update and it wasn't all that long ago, but have we seen any other Camel Audio influence on any of the other Logic stock plugins? I don't think so. Hopefully they'll bring in something else from the remainder of Camel Audio's inventory of intellectual property soon.

i think apple team made a strategy change, They are innovating new features update 10.2 or 10.3 or 10.3.1 .. Therefore

There are some reasons for this, Not all plugins are yet retina (ultrabeat+alchemy+exs24+space designer+sculpture+delay designer+ more..)

1 year required to complete it. Cubase 9 released, No need to wait anymore

If he does on a official line, he's nuts. But even if the lines are monitored doesn't mean, every line is monitored at any given time. That's literally impossible.
But it's true, the departments are closed shops, especially Rr&D. So a simple "someone" from Apple won't hear about things before we do.

 

Logic and fcp follow the same path together, logic now 10.3.2 but FCp Now 10.3.4 Therefore In this case 10.3.3 and 10.3.4 have to come.
