Designed for use by guitarists, singers, DJs and producers as well as drummers, the SPD::ONE pads come in four flavours: Electro, Kick, Percussion and WAV Pad.

All models use USB-MIDI for recording rhythms and triggering sounds, can be run from power supplies or batteries, and operate on tabletops or floors - they can be clamped to drum or mic stands using included mounting hardware, too.

There is a wealth of info, videos, and photos for all 4 products over at the Roland website, along with teasers for many more product launches over the coming month.

Sorry i didn't post all the info here- there is so much it have made this the longest post in AS history.

F-ing brilliant. Funny thing is, a week ago i had an idea in my head about a very similar product, the percussion pad.

It would be sweet if they combined all 4 into one instrument with 4 pads though, something like the Roland SPD-SX.

Bigger SPD-S/SX is a lot more expensive. Price, size and different needs ( drummers, guitarists...) was the main reason these were developed.

I kinda hope that they do a conga type thing where u can trigger different stuff depending where u hit it w/ hands. Also one that u can use liek CC foot pedal, depending on how hard u press it. I dunno if that is already how it works? Also bluetooth / wireless.

But even so, it would be fun to buy 2/3 of these & just do some drumming! Any news on $, cos I couldn't find it on the site? Also, can u chain them thru?

Seems like they're going to be around $200. Yes, each.
I'd rather go with an Alesis SamplePad and buy an Ableton Push or NI Maschine for the same money as those four Roland pads.

I absolutely nothing new, revolutionary or even remotely appealing about this besides it being a drum pad.... What exactly does this thing do besides offer a handful of sounds?

Yea, a conga type, could even be shaped circular and have a depth of two inches so it would look and feel like one. Hell, that would have been a hit for bedrom producing, live, studio even djs.
Though you could get something like a PD-8. Rubber and velocity sensitive, havent tried playing with hands though ,lol.

Old indeed. I've had my Roland Octapad since 1985. 8 large pads in one unit and each pad can be tuned to any MIDI note number. Just have a preset on your sampler where those note numbers are programmed to trigger any hit, sample or phrase.

Easy: Alesis SamplePad. Four pads, can also be used as a USB/midi trigger and you can load your own samples - and a lot more than one!
All at a price lower than the cheapest new SPD:One.
