Air Music Tech/ The Riser/05 Swells

That's the synth, and the preset is 09 (Panned Chord To Noise Swell) It's very close, but needs slight adjustment.

OK, On the Sweep Generator, adjust the volume start to zero. That provides the lead in to the sound. Then go to the filter cut off and bring it up to half way. That's pretty much it.

Amazing, Sylenth.Will.Fall. However, I could make it on any of the synths quite easily. It's just a matter of experimenting. It sounds like the LPF filter is rather closed, for starters. The "main thing" is this interesting pitch envelope at the beginning that you have to program. That is a bit harder to achieve on synths with just 2 envelopes but it's not unobtanium. On some Roland synths you could use a gate envelope for amplitude, so you could use the 2nd envelope for the pitch. Well, that is my interpretation of it anyway. I would also warm it up a little to get bigger width with some nice chorus plugin and a saturation/console emulation plugin, if doing it ITB. Rather simple sound, really.

I would actually add a little bit of sine LFO on the pitch to it to make it sound even more warm.

But the point is how do you use it? Sound is not as important as the idea.

I think there is def the pitch env. going on. When I go for that "almost exact" sound I always make the same midi loop, as the harmony has impact on sound perception. Agree, at cutoff half way down and all that noise/crackling many synths will sound the same. Also true - it has that saturated warm dusty sound. So you can go for a synth that has it or add the inserts later...

Edit: @Sylenth.Will.Fall don't have that synth but you made me super curious.. damn will have to try it

@dbmuzik that's the way to do it. Instead of theoretizing (me inc.) straight to the point.

I think a little debate about the sound is healthy, because not every OP will look and learn why and how did you setup env, filter, lfo.. in certain way. But if we think that we know how the sound is made a preset or at least a bounce should be posted..

BTW, how did you know about Prophet 12 patch? Own the board?

Lol. Once I wrote a chord progression for a hiphop track for my friend/mc. Some boom bap with pianos and orchestral elements. After recording the vocals we were looking for a vox sample to put in the chorus. He looks at me and says try steve miller time keeps on slipping. So I did for the hell of it. Well it fit perfect. I didnt even have to tune it or chop it. I was blown away how he could snatch that out of the air like that. He didnt even dj or play any instruments. The groove of my track was completely different and he still felt it.
