There should be .jzml (maybe even some .jzlib) files and documentation included with the program files. I could use the entire lot. I've been getting into canvas scripting and was thinking about adding objects similar to roboknobs to them, among other things.
I've slowly been building my own but this would be super helpful. Of course, I'll share with everyone once I'm done.

These are roboknobs, by the way.

    Please and thank you.

The canvas object is adapted from HTML5 and really opens up a whole lot of possibilities. Check out Antonio Blanca's work.

    Wat up pinkskin?
How r u doing? Sorry I don't have the lemur templates for you. I'm just an avid Lemur user. I love that shize! So much fun learning how to code the scripts. Been working on a Lemur template for Reaper on and off for about a year! The only thing I'm mad at Lemur for is not being able to use bluetooth midi along with it. Like step on a bluetooth footswitch like the Blueboard and have it trigger an action in Lemur. Midi Designer does this but sadly doesn't have scripting capabilities or OSC.

Just wanted to say thanks for the info on the roboknobs. I thought I scoured the user library for everything, but that one must have slipped through! I am no coder/programmer by any means and learning along the way has been very cool. I tried to incorporate as much of the user library into my template as I could. Have to check out roboknobs some more and see if they work with OSC signals. Like having an easy to use LFO on a knob! Very cool! So thanks for sharing that man! Good luck on your journey with Lemur, if we could all be a fraction of the genius that Blanca is!

P.S. If anyone knows how to script a pad button in Lemur to trigger a Reaper SWS Action please tell me how! I can get it to work but it sends the OSC action message twice for some reason and I can't figure out why?

Hey taterhead. Look like you got that iOS thing sorted. Lemur rocks, yeah? I could be wrong but I have the feeling that the message is sent twice because pressing the pad sends messages for both ON and OFF (zero to value and value to zero). Try changing the message sent value from 'any' to 'message sent when value goes from 0 to positive'. It should only capture the OFF and ignore the ON.

Hey man, totally understand about the On Expression up, down, or any. Its not that. I think it has something to with how reaper handles osc. It requires a text file, .reaperosc, to function. In that text file I put a line to use regular actions, and a line to use the sws actions. I just don't think I have the syntax and wording right. It was just a quick interjection of a question. Don't worry about it. I'm going to post a proper question on the reaper forum, just haven't got around to it. And I always had my own ipad and iphones, was just wondering about icloud locked devices cuz a few roommates have lived with me over the years and I found and ipad under the dresser. No idea who's it is?
Looked at roboknobs and its setup for midi only, would be totally awesome if there was an OSC version of roboknobs! I looked and I don't think I'm smart enough to convert it to OSC!

Woah! When did they add record knobs? iOS or actual jazzmutant unit?

I constantly dip in and out of trying touch interfacing with my DAW. Still not sure/convinced where the sweet spot is though. Is it something like an iPad 9.7" with Lemur installed or something like a 24" multi touch monitor laid flat/angled and touching the software directly (Studio One)? Or is it a custom interface similar to what Hans Zimmer uses or the Slate Raven series?

It just feels a bit like even though Lemur and TouchOSC etc have been out for aaaaages, the tech/integration is not mature enough enough to be simple and straightfoward with enough compatibility to make it worth it yet. Or am I wrong?

I know a few pros use Lemur, but I think they tend to be on the extreme geek/nerd side of the electronic scene (kind of where @Pinkman is hiding out at ).

@Bunford, Lemur is a custom interface. You have to design it. It just comes blank. So it can perform whatever DAW functions you want it to. Its for phones and tablets. Works on android too although not as good. No its not straightforward at all. There is no manual to tell you how to code things which sucks for me cuz I am not a coder and had to just try shit out to get it to work or ask for help on their forum. Its totally compatible though, I have had no issues with it operating properly, just hard to setup and design. Once you figure out how to design it though, the possibilities are endless! You can make it do whatever DAW function you want. In reaper you can design your own custom action, then design a button, slider, or knob in Lemur to control that action. Infinite possibilties! And yes, its for nerds! But I'm a heavy metal guy and just use Lemur as a super fancy DAW remote controller with a mixer, panner, sends, markers, regions, stepsequencer, drumpads, LFO generator, midi keyboard, vst effects parameters, and a special page for controlling a special reaper plugin called Playtime. All that in one Lemur template. I basically made a button in Lemur for almost every single button in reaper and then some! Much cheaper than having an actual mackie controller or avid venue! And much more customizable!

@sideshowtmc the roboknobs were posted on the user library like five years ago, but this is the first I've heard about it too. Pretty sure you can use it on either ios or jazzmutant. Jazzmutant is just a machine that runs the Lemur software. Roboknobs is just a jzml file you can import into any project.

@tater_one That's actually what I've been trying to do. I've got one way communication over OSC using oscout() but I think I have to remove the tap 5 times to assign CC feature (which I really wanted to keep) and all references to MIDI in every script and each expression that uses it. Unless I can find way to make them coexist. I'm also trying feed the recorded values into arrays that act like a buffer and saves your movements which you can pull up from a small grid of pads. I can't tell yet if that's just a dream, though.

@sideshowtmc It was developed for iOS but most modules work fine on the original hardware. Not sure about the canvas object though. If the template doesn't work the module might. The download contains both.

@Pipotron3000 I'm actually looking for the templates that Steve Duda himself designed and packed up with the retail copies of Serum and Nerve. Appreciate it though.

@Bunford MIDI mapping is a simple enough but does require a little more than click to learn and turn a knob. Not much though. There' also an automap option in the preferences so once you assign your channel and CCs, the template picks up the parameters. Honestly, I use it for the OSC which is more convoluted to set up but way more rewarding. You can only do so much with MIDI at 7-bit before noticeable data dropouts. 14 bit is better but compared to OSC which uses the UDP network protocol, you're basically only limited by what your network will allow. I guess MIDI can technically have equal, maybe even more efficient throughput over ethernet as it uses less data for each message but that's only up to a certain point and only with standard MIDI messages.

One cool thing about Lemur is the extensive user library with whole templates (.jzml) and modules (.jzlib). The one's designed specifically for a plugin or hardware you can import, automap and use right away. What I really like though are the individual modules that you can mash together. There is an factory module called a container which is basically a Reaktor macro. You can pull apart bits and pieces from all over, place them in the container, right click and export/save as a new module to use later. I've been working on hiding these and having context sensitive buttons that take into account if you're holding another button down (or in certain areas, what you pressed most recently) which changes the container that is made visible and different parameters. it a process though. This is part of why I wanted the Xfer templates to see how and if Duda did what I think he did. I can't even find images of them anymore. It can be a pain to configure but I think it's worth it. Plus, simultaneous use of Zebra's 4 XY pads is insane and you still have fingers and thumbs left over.

There's one more method of show/hiding containers I know barely. It's more complicated. I actually had OldGearGuy on the Lemur forum help me design some things. He used complicated canvas method of doing this. I could prolly export an example of that if you need it! And I already pestered OldGearGuy for lots of stuff, maybe you could get his attention on the Lemur forum and he could definitely help code the Roboknobs to work with OSC. I'm kinda skeptical to ask him cuz I already leeched a few things from him he is prolly fed up with me! But he is a nice person and helped me code some very complicated things! Thanks to OldGearGuy on the Lemur forum. Luv u man!

P.S. I also figured out how to make a scroll menu if that would help you!

Can you isolate where the duplicate message originates? Is it Lemur or does it happen on the receiver side?
If not, you could use Wireshark (wireshark.org) to capture the receiver interface and see what messages come in over WiFi, then you'd know where to troubleshoot.

Don't get me wrong, I think what people can do with them is awesome. I'm just one of those who wants instant gratification and it involves laborious MIDI mapping or coding, I immediately get switched off and bored :)

HOWEVER, I do have a current project ongoing. I recently picked up a cheapo 25 key MIDI keyboard that I intend to "brand" as a Serum keyboard and essentially dedicate it to soft synths. I'm now thinking of the possibility if I picked up a cheap Android tablet and integrated it into the keyboard running Lemur.....this forum makes me spend money so much!

    Sounds like a fun project!
Or get a cheap old iPad and run the synth directly on the iPad! Propellerheads thor is a good candidate, but there are many other great ones ;-)

@fiction I figured it out. Stupid error! I guess all my troubleshooting and testing I never tried with the Lemur Editor closed! While it was open and I was testing it was sending multiple messages. Once I tried closing the editor it worked fine! Doh! Thank you though for turning me on to wireshark! I googled around in the past and couldn't find an easy way to look a the recieving OSC messages going into reaper. All I could really find was puredata and I couldn't get it to load on my pc. Prolly C+ runtimes. Anyway thanks for the info on wireshark. Still kinda hard to interpret the OSC messages in wireshark. Wish there was a simpler app that could just look at OSC in and out. Reaper actually will show what its receiving but won't show you what it sends out. Wireshark kinda shows the messages as jibber jabber, broken up phrases. Would be nice if there was an app that showed exactly what the message was in a clearer way. Thanks again for the info!

@Pinkman I posted a question on the Lemur forum to see if anyone would chime in on changing the Roboknobs to OSC. Well see if anyone answers or if it sparks OldGearGuy's interest! If I wasn't poor I'd send him some money cuz he is an expert scripter. I think I know what your trying for with saving the array to presets? Well that's kinda what I had OldGearGuy do for me. Except he built a stepsequencer for me that saved presets of all the stepswitches in an array and played them back. Way too complicated for me to script, but maybe that stepsequencer example could help you out? I can PM it to you cuz I don't really want to share it yet without his permission. OldGearGuy did all the work and I don't want to piss him off by sharing it without his ok. But if you want it to look at I'll pm it to you? Just promise not to post or share it without me chatting with OldGearGuy first!

    @tater_one: You're welcome!
Yes, Wireshark is a deep app and originally wasn't made for this purpose - indeed a complex beast but it will show *any* network traffic which can be helpful with other stuff like Ableton Link debugging etc.
BTW, a simple google search for "osc monitor" will bring up all kinds of nice OSC monitoring tools, like e.g. this little collection.

@fiction, ya googled around again and can't really find a good OSC Monitor. The link you gave me has two apps for windows on there. OSC Message Listener, that link leads to some share page, couldn't download it. The other OSCMonitor on the eyecon website doesn't work on my pc. It opens and doesn't do squat. In the info bar says it can't bind to port no matter what port I put in! Also, found another one called OSC Data Monitor. That one opens and runs but doesn't show any data at all. Nothing gets received to it. Really I wanted to monitor outgoing messages out of the computer. Sucks wireshark works but is too complicated to decipher the broken phrases it sees! Oh well! I just have one small glitch in my layout. I can't get the master volume to display the actual value. Only on my template though. If I load a different template the master volume shows fine. Would like to see what reaper is sending out why Lemur isn't receiving it from my template? I'll live if I can't get that one small thing to work!

**edit** Got OSCMonitor to work from the eyecon website. Have to open monitor first, bind to port, then open reaper. Sadly it only sees incoming messages though.

If you capture the bidirectional communication and send me (or attach) the file as .pcap or .pcapng, I might find the time to look at it and write a little helper script that you could then use from the command line, if you want.
But it's not going to be anything fancy.

Otherwise, couldn't you route the outgoing OSC messages to the monitor using an aggregate Midi device on Mac or one of the many Windows Midi tools?
I believe I've seen an OSC monitor done inside Lemur itself somewhere on the Liine forum, but I really don't remember where.
    Also, someone there wrote:
<< ... So I have been using "wireshark" as an OSC monitor for the past night and it is vastly more informative then all the other OSC monitors I have been using. ... >>
