I don't have the same problem, Avenger works well.

I have tried to emulate the problem that you have with the noise oscillator by playing an arpeggio and repeatedly pressing the same note, but the noise oscillator never "transforms" into a static oscillator.

As for the new mode of synthesis, I have read about one called "Expresso resynthesis". I think resynthesis would open a new path for Avenger.

Even so, I sincerely hoped that they would apply the granular synthesis, because they already have in Avenger a sample player.

Question. I don't do a whole lot of granular stuff but, could you not... just sort of create a granular synthesis engine within Avenger?

Macro up playback position, make a random LFO set to fast-as-fuck to modulate playback position, then macro the amount of that modulation. Presto! granular synthesis?

No, it would not be granular synthesis at all. In any case it would be a "pseudogranular" synthesis, but we would not be near the concept since the granular synthesis divides the samples into small parts (grains).

Even so, what you propose is an interesting idea.

I'm aware. That's why the LFO would be set super fast. So you only get a grain of playback before it changes position.

No, I've checked it out and I don't have this problem on my side. I've hit a note over and over, but nothing. :dunno:

I had read on kvr about the new synthesis :), that's good news, although we don't have much details yet. I also wonder where they stand with the whole drum synthesis devellopement, this one would also be great.

I can totally confirm this behaviour in AU version (latest update also). I always end up swithing the main osc off and using the noise generator (bottom left) when I need noise.

It seems like activting the "Endless Sub' option things get better. Also Voicing of at least 2 voices as one voice will generate that static-like nise sound more often.

I reported it to Rene at VPS. Might make a difference if you and others did as well. The issue with the pitch module having an effect when disabled got fixed like immediately after I reported it. The more info they have the better.

@Cav Emp I have over 20 bug reports and crash reports sent already. Until towards the latest 1.0.x versions, macOS AU was a nightmare. This one is not burning hard enough so I skipped.

How's it running for you now? I remember the macOS craziness when it got released. I felt pretty bad for those/you guys.
In a bit of weird balance, mine's actually been buggier in newer versions. It's nothing worse than a minor nuisance bug/crash once in a while, but it used to run like a dream for me.

The biggest problems were, high GPU load, random audio spikes (I had one that drove my monitors into protection mode, for a second I thought they died of shock - on DAW I had something like + 60 dB FS), random CPU spikes resulting in system overload and playback stop and not the least random DAW crashes.

Luckily I have no projects relying on Avenger as some Windows user just reported his old 1.0.x projects sound different with 1.1.x versions. I mean radically different.

Version 1.1 behaves quite nice, I have this beef with them not implementing links to samples in sampler mode, so if you use Avenger as sampler, all the samples are inside your project, which leads to increase in size of the projecs especially when doing backups. I'd like an option to link the samples for drag'ndrop and include the samples only when saving the preset, but to no avail. They don't like linking files as a regular sampler will do. They also have Phalanx to save from obsolition.

I remember a funny thing, some user said that on his new laptop Avenger works flawlessly no GPU load, all OK. On my PC, on my 6 year-old video card Avenger takes 70 % GPU (!), on my laptop (GT 750 M) it's 40-60%. Then this guy revealed that his laptop has a Quadro video card

One needs a serious workstation rig to work with this synth, but when it works nice things happen :)

Yeah I saw that. Unnerving. I've been using Avenger in most/all of my projects since December. I haven't had cause to open up an old one recently, but I'll have to check it out and see if anything's different when I get back home.

I save all my installers though, so if I really need to I can go back and reinstall the version my stuff was made with.

I bought this the day it came out and it's badass. I adore it. However, I like UVI Falcon slightly better. I stocked up on some plugins over the holidays such as Synapse the Legend, Avenger, Reason 9, Softube stuff, etc, and then finished my UAD2 collection to make it complete. I pretty much have everything at this point. Yes, I do use most of it. I'm pretty much always making something lol.

I kind of agree on that one I also prefer Falcon (the granular synth in avenger might change that though, although I doubt it will be as good as the ircam granular modules in Falcon), but I use more Avenger as I find I make sound quicker in it. Falcon is so huge I always feel guilty to make a "simple" sound inside, it makes me wanna be ambitious about things !

Falcon's UI kind of scared me away from it. Looks like the kind of thing that would be great if you know exactly what you want to make, but really bad if you're just kind of noodling around till you make something cool, which I do a lot of
