I'm feeling it. Strangely, I like the sound from my laptop speakers better than in my headphones.

This track was arranged around one very simple idea. I didn't feel a compelling reason to state this idea over and over for 3 minutes. All of the little patterns you threw in to try to distract people from this didn't work for me.

I don't know...maybe it's just me, but I get extremely bored by hearing the same exact pattern over and over for too long. Even something as simple as changing a single note would at least imply some progress.

    Progression......
Another reason why I like what I learned from making future bass tracks. In the progressions theres always an almost lead like line thats playing the same sound as the main chord progression but hitting the 7ths/9th/13th etc. Its not in your face like a lead but mixed in with the progression. Really does a good job of breaking up the repetition. Ive started incorporating it into other genres, like .....hiphop.

Our genres of choice are repetitive in nature. I feel like its my job as a (good) producer to make it seem less so

I respect your view. Electronic dance music is very repetitive in nature. I agree with you on your statement entirely. I actually find most "EDM" extremely boring and it can't seem to move me much. This track had a lot of subtle changes throughout the whole production and pertains to a classic house feel to keep the dance floor moving. It's a genre of little progressions and pertains to mostly rhythm and groove :)

I guess the best source of music to get your fill on Electronic dance music would be progressive house or trance since most of the production is based on snare builds, sudden drops, massive effects and sweeps and constant builds.

House has never really been about that. I often wondered how "progressive House" ever got the name because it sounds much like Trance.

It's interesting you mention this, because I was searching for the latest DJ mixes that I might like, and for the life of me - I couldn't really find something that didn't drive me crazy due to the repetition. I'm finding a lot of the new stuff to be dry and lifeless.....it's not like the old house I listened to back in the day when I used to DJ.

So with my frustration I ended up making a classic house mix for myself to listen to. haha...you can hear it here:

Just out of curiosity - are you producing anything by chance? I'd be interested to hear what you have on the table for productions since you have a strong critique of peoples work on this forum.

Good point. I just find the ones with the biggest criticism often can't produce a good track if their life depended on it. I'm hoping to see an exception to that :)

My friend, Please, Please, Please, Please, Please, Please, Please, Please, Please, Please, Please, Please, Please, Please, Please, Please, Please, Please, Please, Please, Please, Please, Please, Please, Please, Please, Please, Please, Please, Please, Please, Please, Please, Please, Please, Please, Please, Please, Please, Please, Please, Please........ don't get enraged. I really like you but expect something unconventional from you too. Let's convert this program music to something exceptional like this old track:

At all times being unwonted nonconformist had been grueling but come on you're the only house idol I know here. Let's be a bit eccentric and unorthodox iconoclast.:winker::thanks:

I like the old school feeling to it. especially the beat, more

I also understand that this single phrase might be a bit repetitive over the length of nearly a whole track.
the mix appears a bit muddy. it might lack definition in some areas.

But apart from that - I would definitely played it "out in the field".
