somebody don't know it, is there an envelop follower (MIDI note triggered) in Reason (or have to buy some RE)

I've used it years before, but now ...

Is this really true? This would counter all those who argued it would be a nothing more than a toy since it does not connect to the world of vst. This could become the killer feature. Having both worlds combined.

@Oysters Do you mean PluginDelayCompensation? If so, they've implemented it:
"How does the delay compensation work?
Some effects in a signal chain will introduce delay in the timing. With the delay compensation on, Reason will calculate the total delay in each signal path and adjust the timing of each discrete signal path accordingly, to assure perfectly timed, phase correct playback. The adjustment is automatic but can also be set manually for each mixer channel."

    @xbitz
there are some you can buy. no native dedicated envelope generator in reason.
but you could just use one of the native synths to generate envelopes and send them off elsewhere, this is reason after all :)

yeah i did. i didn't notice that bit of text. PDC was in no way implemented before (actually still isn't, as 9.5 isn't out yet), some rack extensions and even native devices introduces delays. this used to drive me mad with reason. i really hope they make this work!!!

They dont need to say they will kill RE's but they are now dead anyway.
1] No developer will bother to code for both RE and vst plugin when all they need to do is just code for the vst market.

2] Users no longer will need to either purchase or keep 2 seperate versions of the same plugins.

Conclusion, RE's are now deader than the Dodo.

Also, a huge kick in the nuts to the developers who have wasted all their time learning how to and actually programming RE's.

Completely humiliating for Propellerheads to have to do this after refusing to do this exact same thing for so long.

I guess they aren't selling many copies of Reason if they have had to do this.

When Record was introduced, i told them on their forum that this step is bullshit, that anyway they will combine reason and record in one piece of software, that anyway in the end they will finish up with adding vst support, time warp and melodyne wannabe crap. And that they will drop dongle torture. And you know what? I was banned. Seems like i predicted everything except last important step. Lets see when this miracle will happen.

HEY PROPS! WANNA HIRE ME? SEEMS LIKE I CAN SAVE A LOT OF TIME FOR YOU!

btw. found my forum entry about "automatically returning playing cursor"

"should simply add manual overwrite (shift+space) to the stop transport button > option/keyboard control edit mode, double click on the stop button / shift+space"

:winker: Yeah, Reason with VST! I was talking about it with the developer at the superbooth in Berlin, and they liked my idea :) he told me he will think about it.

There is an envelope follower in the Pulversizer but not MIDI triggered, but maybe you can make it MIDI triggered by using inside a Combinator? EDIT: Nope, this is not possible.

I'm not sure what exactly you are looking for. An envelope follower is a function that converts audio amplitude to CV data. You can do this with the gain reduction CV output of the MMClass compressor (http://www.soundonsound.com/techniques/diy-effects-reason#para5)

But you talk about midi note triggering? Could you explain how exactly that influences the CV data creation?

from 4:45, normally it used for common controls for multi-synth layers, so dont have to program the synths own modulation systems(one by one) to do the same per note modulations in them

it knows only the basic things, although the player devices can do quite fun things in r9

Thanks, now I see. You're not looking for an envelope follower, but an envelope generator. That's a difference. Well, the only device I can think of would be the Matrix Pattern Sequencer. It allows you to draw a curve and direct the CV to wherever you like. But, its resolution is limited and it is no real replacement for an envelope generator (it wasn't created for that purpose).
