Could you be a little more detailed with your question and also provide a few example of said tracks you are trying to find the "exact genre" for?

Yeah have 2 kind of agree. Isn't a genre a sort of broad classification that's open to some degree of interpretation?
I'm sure for example many will disagree on which genre covers which tracks exactly so it's a bit open anyway especially when it comes to detailed sub-genre's. I guess the easiest way would maybe be to make your own broad classifications with detailed branches & sub-genre etc if needed. Not sure of any websites but most tracks nowadays have certain Meta embedded etc even though it only a guide I guess.
Would also be a huge database that needed I guess to set such a site up lol

impossible, because sometimes tracks are a crossover, this would define a new genre.
for example you make a track in ambient still, but add a dubstep vibe to it as climax - filter the shit. so which genre is this now? it isnt ambient nor dubstep.

try to look up the artist or if you have the opportunity ask him, which genre his works are.

    What artic storm says ^^

sometimes I don't really got a full understanding of some genre's that goes true my hands.
in my opinion it got really ridiculous with electronic music in the late 90's

Guys, I think perfectly the same thing, but as dj, I need to sort my music in any kind of way. I make electronic music. I need sites like beatport or similar that put a genre in the description of a track. I need to understand very well differences between 'formal' genres, not to put a genre for any track, of course a lot of track are bridges from two different genres

Nobody was present for the team meeting when any of these futile electronic genres were assigned... label it anything you want. Hell, most electronic labels are BS and contradictory anyways. Take "Minimal" for example. Which should imply that less is going on, when in fact the average "Minimal" track has twice the amount of subtle things going on in it compared to a "Prog House" track...

That's by year, label and track's energy mate. And a note in the comments regarding the position in the set like: low energy and groovy for the warm up, high energy for main set, medium-high energy but "liquid" for the afterhours.

Otherwise you end up with things like Future House, Funky Future House, Progressive Future House, Minimal Progressive Future House, Minimal Progressive Future Tech House. IMHO Beatport is doing us a favour by not crowding their genres database with each crappy seasonal style.

I know its outdated but this is a very good guide in which you can search for electronic genres: http://techno.org/electronic-music-guide/
This year (I hope soon) a new updated version will be released so stay tuned!

There is no "exact genre" for any piece of music.

yes, this i definitely the best answer.

    Music sorting for "situations"!
I'm coming up with the same thinking more or less...sorting music by feelings that create on the dancefloor, not for genre, not for other shits, just in the way you can understand that a type of song is good for that moment. Djs have to play the right song in the right moment, for the crowd. It's doesn't matter the genres...
Of course genres and feelings of a track are closed but they're not the same things.
Are you in agree with this?

I'm not sure if I follow your English correctly (I am not native speaker) - in my opinion yes different genres can produce same kind of emotions. However, if you are in a techno lineup, you must keep the style going. People expect that kind of energy specific to techno music and they need that music. Conversely, if you are in a tech-house venue and play techno, you will sound too aggressive for the crowd so it's really about respecting the broad genres. That's why I told you to follow the labels because it's very easy to build up the set after just 2-3 labels that you consider that match the theme of the party.

Yes, exactly! You have to keep the general "mood" for that situation,
Sorting by "feelings", in other word emotions or situations, not by genre

I found out that all the possibilities have been explored previously and nothing left for me to work on it. Better to invest on carbon offsetting instead of making music. At least I can feel being a better creature for the nature rather than contaminating it with my noises. :bleh:

Doesn't matter if it's all been done before. You haven't done it, so it's worth doing it.

Maybe you'll end up being way crazier than the men in tight leather pants who came before. Above all, you can't afford to give up. You can give up all you want after you're dead.

Music and other arts are sometimes like a zen exercise in learning to genuinely trust in yourself and the self-evident truth YOUR eyes can see, over everything and everyone else.
