This isn't the finished thing, but I cant put my finger on what is wrong with it. I welcome any help or valid suggestions/ criticism.

    Thanks for listening/ helping.

Your drum part is currently used in Guantanamo to extort confessions with great results.
I now found something even weirder than Timothy Dalton in the Bond universe.

More seriously, since it's unfinished, it's actually quite nice (but even more if you're a Jason Bourne fan).

Whilst I do enjoy witty comments as much as anyone else, I at least read the rules.

But still, I'm glad you enjoyed it!

You got the demo comment, I edited 'Moore' for 'Dalton' and 'worse' for 'weird'.
But if even an answer like mine is considered politically incorrect by breaking some rules, uh..
To apologize, I put a like on your youtube page. That's your first of many, hopefully.

The bass at the beginning sounds to high to me, maybe come down half an octave. The drums are a bit overpowering too, so maybe back the level down a tad and see how it feels. overall I quite like it:like:

more space in the drum parts perhaps, its less like a beat and no dynamics might be why, try making accents on essential hits, it might work in the style your after if you keep a lot of busy stuff low in volume, works in jazz.

the beginning drums are a bit aggressive. The drums 2:00 in is much smoother. Maybe bring the aggressive drums at the very end?

I think with a lil bit of tweaking this could really be great.Try a lil harder bro, dont be lazy with the drums, work on it.
You could perhaps keep the midi track but choose a better sounding/fitting kit.:mates:

I like it. The drums might be a bit too much in the forefront but beside that, it's very nice.

John Barry would be proud.

    Try the following things :
    1. Rewrite all your drum patterns, use proper compression&eq and downmix them.
    2. Remove all unnecessary arpeggios. Remove all unnecessary pads and random synths parts.
    3. Rewrite the bass part with proper articulations, expression, motion & emotion. Use your CC lane / automation. Do not just lay notes.
    4. Rewrite the main theme with proper articulations and expression, motion & emotion. Use your CC lane / automation. Do not just lay notes.
    5. Once done, if something still bothers you, then delete everything.
    6. Back to 1 until you're good
    7. Rest.

Very good attempt. To my non-expert ears (brain), the drums part seems way too overpowering on the entire mix (plus the highs from the drum kit are kinda piercing to my ears, could be my lowly earphones?). A bit of tinkering on the faders of the each track could help balance the levels. Otherwise, it's a fine attempt.

    Cheers!

Yeah the drums sound, very robotic & very loud at ths start, very reminds me of the heavliy programmed tracker bgm used in , mars rising (mac game)

Thanks everyone for your comments, they've all been really helpful.

Cheers bud, I've edited a lot of the drum patterns and sorted out a better kit, worked on changing quite a bit of it actually. :mates: I'm not sure I even recognise it myself.

Thanks m8, I have changed quite a bit of it. Still more to do though.

    Cheers fella, noted, and amended.

I like what you're attempting. I second the drum placement/aggressiveness comments..
My thing is , I'm missing the big brass parts from the original, and those lush hits.
That synth line needs some pumping up. Also, perhaps investigate the sound of that 60's reverb/room tone
Keep at it, and best of luck in your pursuits!

Thanks. I just uploaded take 2. Is that any better? (Not the last bit as I have noticed that's all a bit of a mush and I'll redo that)

A bit better, cymbals too prominent. Try reducing the sustain/release time, or replace with a short hihat?

    TBH I like both tracks.
This one might be a bit better, maybe too much cymbals overall?

May I ask which synth/drums were used?

I might be the only one to think that way but I prefer Dalton or Lazenby to Brosnan anytime.:winker:
