What's your favorite VST/sample library for strings/atompsheric pads?

    Hey guys,

So I really want to get into producing trance/progressive house (trouse if you may). A big element in that are these awesome atmospheric pads, strings and ambient effects. I was wondering what your favorite go to plugin/ library is? I see so many sample libraries for kontakt I don't know which ones are "industry standard" and which ones are crap and I definitely don't have enough time to download all of them and try them out. It's also good to get other perspectives. Which ones are your favorites? Along with VST's that suit what I was talking about?

Also, if anyone knows what they might have made in this video (difficult question I think), please let me know!

    Thanks

Camel Audio's Alchemy VST and Spectrasonic's Omnisphere. There aren't any better, wavetable based vst's are the best, most organic and complex way to go with ambient\atmospheric stuff.

    +1 for fast things.
Iris seams also be good, something with granular synthesis will work.

    @ n4mmo,

Not necessarily a favorite, rather a suggestion. *yes*
If you can try it, check this one :

'APPLIED ACOUSTICS SYSTEMS String Studio VS-1'

Here you have a very short sample of a review done by the 'emusician.com'. Others exist, but this one is well detailed and covers all you need to know about this Plug-In. The full review and test can be seen via the below link (in blue) :

"String Studio delivers a variety of convincing stringed-instrument emulations, but that's not its real charm. It offers a huge sound palette, as its generous preset library attests. The library is spread across 17 categories, most named after stringed instruments, but the presets in those categories range from emulations to strange instrument hybrids to unstable sounds that you won't find in nature. And it's easy to make those sounds your own, because the settings you're tweaking call up real-world images that at least hint at what the results might be."

Full review and test by 'emusician.com'

    Good quest !

I must say again, go with Omnisphere and you are done, it's not just some rompler/sampler or whatever, it's subtractive synthesizer with huge library of very good and different sounds and layering possibilities :)

Go with pros and cons, this is the best solution, it's my go to synth for everything ;)
