    Hey guys,

I've been slaving over this Omnisphere release and I've read everything Lord Gaga has had to say (thanks for that by the way!).

One problem, I can't for the life of me get 1.5.6d working. First I installed the 1.5.4c update and then tried 1.5.6d which did not work and then I wiped out Omnisphere, installed the 6 disks and then tried the 1.5.6d update alone and it still didn't install. I read somewhere to try installing through pacifist.

Can anyone tell me if I'm doing anything wrong? Or will this update just not install? :dunno:

Also, the disks themselves said that installing the whole thing will take hours. For me it's not taking long at all to install. I'm not sure if this is unusual or not either.

Thanks in advance for the help, I really want to get this beast working.

    Hi'

First, it would help if you give some info about your PC or Mac. Lion/Windows etc...

Second, what exactly do you mean by it does not work/install? does the Installer not work? or after the Installation the Plug-in does not apear?

    cheers

Sorry about that. I have a Macbook Pro running Lion. The installer works and everything. The only thing that the update comes with is just one .pkg file thats 79.5 MB. I double click it and everything works except the actual install itself. I get the "installation failed" with the yellow triangle icon.

Note that the 1.5.4c update does indeed work. In that download there's an update for the Patch Library (1.5.1), the software update (1.5.4d) and the soundsource library (1.0.2).

    OK!

    1. Install "Spectrasonics.Omnisphere.v1.0.VSTi.RTAS.AU.PC.MAC.DVDR.D1-AiRISO" - DVD's 1 - 6.
    2. Install "Omnisphere v1.5.5e Update" keep attention, if i look in this Folder i see 4 Installers those are:
    - Omnisphere_Patch_Library_Update_1_5_5
    - Omnisphere_Software_Update_Mac_1_5_5e
    - Omnisphere_Soundsource_Library_Update_1_0_2
    - VIP_Patch_Library_Update_1_3_1 they all must be installed.
    3. Install "Omnisphere v1.5.6d Update"
    4. Register with KeyGen (AiR keygen)
    5. Done!

Step 3, if the Installer fails, You need to Place the "Omnisphere.component" Manualy, Because on Lion sometimes there are problems with restrictions & rights. this is how you do this:
    - Delete the "Omnisphere.component" file in components Folder.
    - Move the extracted "Omnisphere.component" from the "Omnisphere v1.5.6d Installer" to the components Folder. there where the old one was..

please don't ask me for any file! as there are all available by google.

    hope this helps.

    cheers

Okay so the 1.5.5e update installed perfectly everything worked as it should. The 1.5.6d installer gave me the same problem. "Install failed" with the yellow triangle. The installer itself ran fine, but it did not finish the install.

So reading what you wrote this is what I make of it:

    1. Delete Omnisphere.component from MacHD>Library>Audio>Plugins>Components
    2. Extract Omnisphere.component from 1.5.6d package and place it in MacHD>Library>Audio>Plugins>Components (where the old one was)
    3. Install 1.5.6d package? Or do I leave it since I extracted the component file from it.

I did just that above^ and ran the installer and it did not install :dunno:

    Thanks again for your help.

As i know you only need the component from 1.5.6d package, do not run the installer. What kind of DAW are you using Logic Pro?

Nope Ableton Live! ... So I only needed the component from that and not the package itself installed? That seems bizarre to me imo.

Yes, you only need the component (AU) as you have already all other needed things installed. you only need the component so Ableton Live can open the Plug-In. maybe you have to re-scan Audio Unit Manager or how is it called on ableton live.

    - Move the extracted "Omnisphere.component" from the "Omnisphere v1.5.6d Installer" to the components Folder. there where the old one was.. DO NOT RUN THE INSTALLER, YOU ONLY NEED THE COMPONENT FILE. you already have all other neccesary Files installed if you followed my instructions.

It's not all that bad haha. Except I swear I feel like I have barely any samples in Omnisphere! Also the Bob Moog collection isn't working.

Lisapower, do you know the appropriate update path for Trillian as well? I seemed to be running into the same problem as I did with Omnisphere. :snuffy:

The Folder with the Sound Files Omnisphere & Trillian should be:

    Folder "SAGE", and inside "STEAM"
STEAM is the one Omnisphere is looking for.

i have my sound Files on a External HD, so i don't know where you have it on your system.

You say that the Bob Moog collection isn't working & also the Factory presets? try this:
Open up the Plug-in go to Browser window where the presets are, now at the bottom you will see some buttons. hit the one that is next to the play button. this will refresh/re-scan your Browser with the installed sound Files.

otherwise, if Omnisphere does not find the Sound Files it would pup up a error message right by opening the Plug-in, then you would be able to locate the "STEAM" Folder.

    same with Trillian

    cheers

Well I just see the library and I know there's more patches. Most all of the patches I see are from trillian anyway. The Bob Moog collection didn't even install the same problems occured with the yellow triangle saying the installation failed.

Try to Extract the Bob moog collection from the installer, like you have done with the component file. Just watch the architecture in Pacifist and try to copy the Files to the right place in the Steam Folder!

    1. The "Moog Tribute Library.db" file (only 1 File) from the installer, copy them to: STEAM/Omnisphere/Settings Library/Patches/Factory
    2. The "Moog Tribute Library" Folder (Folder with sounds etc. 2.41 GB) From the installer copy them to: STEAM/Omnisphere/Soundsources/Factory.

Don't forget to refresh/re-scan in the Plug-in, Browser presets

    cheers

Spectrasonics instruments installers give me a headache on PC, too. ;) They're such PITA. Thankfully, only one of my friends use them, and I wish he didn't. LOL Terrible company. They made everything as complicated as they can regarding installers. I actually extracted everything from their installers and do it manually lately. Just kinda copy all the installs from computer to computer manually. That's more easy, when you know how to do it. :)

They just had to make a VSTi installer that puts a VSTi in the right place, and a bank installer that puts the samples in the right place. Why is that so complicated for them, I don't know. They could have made 2 archive files for that that we only uzip/unrar to its place. Like Camel Audio Alchemy, for instance. Stupid developers... Cheers!

LisaPower, do you know what the correct upgrade path is to get the most updated version of trillian? You've been a saint so far, thanks so much for the help.

Use Pacifist for any messed up installers and drop files where they go.
