Easy question today: pro and cons of autotune and melodyne? Best choice for electronic music?

Why using the first or the second?

If you do a lot of tuning, you sort of need both.

The real thing we're talking about here is realtime vs offline tuning.

Offline sounds better, but its a slow process.

Realtime is faster, but you have less control.

Sometimes when I'm mixing an autotuned rap track, I treat the autotune as like a "computerized voice processor", and use melodyne before it to alleviate some of those awful tuning artifacts.

If you want to monitor your recording with tuning, you need a realtime plugin.

With some realtime plugins you can use midi notes as triggers almost like a vocoder/talkbox but without sounding like Roger Troutman (nothing against him).

    Many "scales" have seven notes.
But other bluesy scales I know have 10 notes you can use, and Autotune (in the past) couldn't handle that.

You mean that in autotune I can't edit manually the notes? Ok melodyne helps you to keep under control even better what vocal are you processing but autotune is even faster than melodyne isn't it?
So you use melodyne to get variations of pitch less aggressive and more natural and after use autotune with auto correction to correct pitch and timbre. Did I understand right?

u understood him right...but u can manually tune individual notes with certain versions of autotune as well...it just won't be in real time...and won't sound as natural as melodyne...
