I decided not to use any preset and just synthesize them for being original.

No, of course not. Even 1/10000000000000000000000.....0 th of them has not been made yet. I'm not a preset-maker but a sound designer would not talk like you. It's a profession for the whole life. I always have abominated Kontakt because it causes people like you do not think about the sounds and use the accustomed ones. Have you ever paid attention why "our music" section never evolves? The most important reason is, not being able to play with the sounds and consequently being limited to the stereotypical method of production.

technically ? a simple arpeggio of 3-4 notes, repeated ad nauseam over and over again, typical of this kind of EDM sub-genre.
so if you like this EDM you will love it, if you dont like it sorry but it's hardly impressive.

as for the sound, again nothing new or impressive, it sounds OK because there are several FX on the synth lead and bass
but you could do similar things with pretty much ANY synth even a Korg mono/poly !

yes, it sounds like a simple square waveform and probably it is.
but, dont be excited too much by the melody, really it's nothing special if you can play decently.

then again one wonders what the hell is so special about the deadmouse guy, i tried and tried and listened to several of his songs and videos but i'm still baffled, there's not a single song that surprised me or gave me a special feeling, on the other side if i pick any random VanBuuren set i will always find 2-3 killer songs, i mean i like trance and techno and electronic in general, but deadmouse to me is just gay and hello kitty and predictable, who knows why they picked him up as a super star dj instead of anyone else, there's no shortage of good EDM producers ... probably if you take drugs his music sounds more mellow ?

infact i noticed he's surrounded by modulars but they're always turned off and there was not a single audio jack plugged in.
there's also a photo of him with a Steinway piano.

so, you he owns a steinway and a wall of modular synths and then his songs are made on FL studio and at best they're made of easy peasy arpeggios ?
    he's a total joke.

i mean, really ... at least just work on the box and sell the vintage gear.
i wont even comment on his neck tattoos or drug addiction or whatever.

music is all that matters and his music is simply uninspiring.
there;s a lot of shit worse than his music on beatport and anywhere else but he's got not a single reason to be paid as much as he does.

Max Cooper, Parquet Records, Innervisions, Traum, DrumCode, there are sooo many good labels with good producers if you really like this minimal-techno style ... none of them is famous but check it out.

good, but ... sounds are dime a dozen nowadays.
do you see anyone complaining about EDM's drums (808/909 in 99% of the cases) being boring ? no .. because there's so many ways to skin a cat.

stick with melodies and your music will sound great even with a simple square waveform + FXs.

Accept he might not quite live up to your exquisite sense of taste and like you mentioned he's obviously way to drugged to perform all the time. Realise he can't play a single note or ever do anything worthwhile no matter how hard he tries.
The 6 grammy awards, 8 studio albums and millions of sales don't mean shit  You're right
Hmmm thinking about it though I guess 100,000 dollars a show indicates he ain't a complete joke and that maybe some people like his stuff :dunno:
In fact, am pretty sure he get's real upset by all your constructive criticism and now considering spending his entire 12 million on a decent DAW for "drugged out wasters" that write whole albums with just one click. :mates::bow:

Just bare idea by simply synthesized sounds.

    A question:
    Is this EDM?

Like it better than the alien abduction stuff for sure Foster. :)

In seriousness though, personally I really like all the repeating, disjointed arp type stuff.
Contrary to what is said, some of it is pretty complex in a rhythmical sense and you can extend the ideas as far as you want to
i.e Rhythmical, off beat, arp type type stuff reminded me straight away of Paul Gilbert type stuff on guitar which incredibly complex

Can take it as far as you like
Coincidentally the guy who posted this vid on youtube called Deadmous3 :rofl:Could b him

Me too. Mysterious power kind of witchcraft. I really don't know why today's producers do not use them significantly and also neatly. TBH, 1 in 1000 uses by others wins my heart and mind. Maybe I have a bad taste and temper.:winker:

Unfortunately most listeners degrade the value of musics by labeling them negatively as over-using arps without even having valuable ideas of how to use them properly.

I posted these tracks to other threads but re-post them here for you too:

Liked those tracks Foster. Especially the second one.
Had a good feel 2 them. Liked the use of the delay setting in the first track. Delay effect especially when like say synced wrt track tempo and sixteenth notes etc etc.
Can give you all sorts of great room for experimentation. On guitar can create the illusion of playing really complex lines just by the repeating notes syncing up at the right place etc. Can be done by exact design or calculations and especially with arp type stuff.
Is always some great areas for experimentation. Can produce some real interesting results.
Second track was good. Liked the bass line in it and sometimes cool to mess around with those sorts of arps say tapped instead of picked etc contrasting with the bass line. Gives it a more legato type sound and again is some great areas just for experimentation and different ideas. Could imagine the second track as something in a game soundtrack and had some interesting types of portamento type slides or whammy effect etc.
Can't really do portamento completely accurately on guitar unless it fretless or u using whammy bar. Is a different approach with regards to same notes played via different method = Different result.
    Sounded pretty good :yes::bow:

WTF is this ? any 13 years old with FL Studio can make similar stuff.
and yes it can be EDM if you overfilter it.

look man, listen to this, classic synth sounds, but a bit more technical ...

    of course.
arpeggiators are the nr.1 favourite of producers who can't play music, it's their signature sound !

arpeggiator + looped drums + shit samples + sidechain compression == typical modern EDM "sound".

    you must be very young.
any decent musician will fully agree with me, trust me.
and no, we don't usually care how much someone is selling, we only judge the music.

maybe this deadmouse guy is super famous in the US but here in europe there's no shortage of good producers.
what he's trying to do is not so terrible if we talk about the sound alone but the final product is soulless and totally flat, believe i tried to listen many times to his "hits" because i couldnt understand what the fuss was all about but finally i had to give up.

    @Avenel you're so brutal.:winker:

I said it's just a bare mix (occurring the initial idea to my mind + making sounds = about 1 hour) not finished one. Be sure I can turn it into a sound that shocks you but wait you're not getting surprised and these kinds of sounds do not please you. I think it's a matter of taste. Isn't it? What are your favourite sounds? Could you please post one of your desirable tracks? Passing judgment on other people's works without any common point would not be helpful. For example I and @Kloud have similar sentiments about the used sounds.

There are creative ways to use arps. It's a simple tool to do with as you please and the only limitations are the ones we set in our minds, friend. Here's a simple example in Ableton but effective in any DAW. Record a bassline or guitar or anything really or even use those much maligned loops (which I have no problem with) and load it in a Simpler device (or any sampler) and split the sample into sections. Now throw an arpeggiator in-front of the sampler/Simpler and, voila. Simple and somewhat creative. Now imagine instead of any old sampler, you use Kontakt and instead of a simple arp you use one of Reaktors more abstract sequencers with MIDI out turned on or even an M4L device.

Autechre to the mau5. Esoteric or not. Get the feels and get down, yo.

Nils is awesome. He helped create that brilliant Una Corda library for Kontakt.

I thought you were being serious and like believed what you were writing. Nice one :rofl:

Creating presets isn't hard. Playing with oscillator shapes, filters, detuning, lfo, distortion and even eq can turn a preset into something else. But in all actuality, synthesis is pretty limited. Despite texture, timbre and warmth of sounds, most vsti are actually recycling the same ol sounds. IMO wavetable synthesis offers a more diverse playing field into sound design, but I haven't heard anything really new since the dub step wobble.

Just so the discussion does not turn into a fight: I'm pretty sure you all noticed that @Avenel wasn't spotting on using an arpeggiator alone. But on the way it is used. Your example, @Pinkman , is what @Avenel is liking as well. It's the soul-less, heart-less music that Deadmau5 is creating. That's what he criticised, not the genre! And I can understand him. I feel similar regarding Martin Solveig. Almost mathematically constructed tracks without life. I can't understand why anyone could like these simple and never touching songs.

And as you won't be able to convince me that Solveig is a real musician, you neither won't @Avenel convince that Deadmau5 has any musical qualities. And you all know (or should learn very quickly) that earning a lot of money has nothing to do with musical talent.
