So my macbook is mavericks... it has iTunes 12.1.0 and the latest is 12.5.4 or something.... BUT, I have to update my osx to use it!!!!

This probably is why my iPhone no longer is recognized, since, after holding out a long time, I updated that stupid thing.... but I see how mac goes about forcing me to update my stuff.

    I could literally kill every employee of any mac related entity... cuz now I can't change the music on my phone!!! >: {

Any one know a workaround for this?.. aside from slitting wrists.

You can use iExplorer or AnyTrans without jailbreaking, you just won't have root access.
iFunbox is my personal favorite and only gets better jailbroken. It also has WIFI syncing.
Another way is to use iTunes on your Mac to purchase tracks/albums then sync iTunes music over the air on your iPhone.

I quit using iTunes. There better ways to access media on iDevices, IMHO.

    1) Jailbreaking is for like iPad and iPhone right?.. ok yeah, I'm not doing any of that.
    2) What do you mean "Root access"?.. If I don't know what that is, I suppose I am not missing anything then?
3)I just need an app that allows me to move music from my macbook to my iphone... not like, delete it from my mbp, and copy to iphone... I just need something like iTunes. Where I organize my music into sequential order, and then copy to phone to listen to elsewhere...

ALthough I forgot!!!... I have an iPod TOuch AND an iPod mini that I haven't used in a couple years since I went to iPhone... I KNOW those will work!!!..

cool. I'd be happy to not use iPhone for music... and be able to save more to my other 2 units.

Cool though... glad for every one's replies

    Yes.
On a stock iOS device the owner essentially has a Guest account. You can customize within Apples limits and add Apps from the AppStore. "Jailbreaking" provides root access with Administrator priveleges so you can basically do whatever you want. Jailbreaking gives you Cydia which is a repository for all kinds of extra functions, apps and tweaks.
For example Activator. With this you can set up automations and shortcuts like hold the home/volume buttons to open camera/compose mail or swipe left/right/up/down to _____(whatever you want it to do) Triple Click the Home Button to ______(you get the idea).
    Not necessary but immensely useful.
Plus, with a jailbroken iDevice and something like iFunbox you'll be able to download all those cool .ipa files on AZ and sync them over to your device.

iFile is one of my favorite Cydia apps. It's basically Finder for your iPad/iPhone.
Add something like SafariDownloadManager and you're even closer to having a handheld Mac.
