Hey, @Cav Emp - how do you like it?

I have to re-try it. I had an issue with my MIDI setup when I was testing it out.

izotope are heading dangerously towards the waves/plugin alliance perma-sale territory.
not a bad thing though as they make top notch stuff

I also got Sonivox Orchestral Companion Strings for $1. Can't go wrong there (unless you hate iLok)

Look at you, reviving an old ass thread :) I guess it is on sale again huh?

It's a nice plugin. Got a bit of a learning curve, but once you figure it out it can do plenty. I guess the only reservation I offer if youre thinking about buying it is, how often do you actually use buffer effects? If you don't have something like stutter edit and need a glitch/buffer effect, can't go wrong with Stutter Edit. I never use these things as much as I think I will. It's nice to have on deck for when I need it though

Yeah I notice that too. They sell on the second hand market for like nothing. It's a damn shame they're so severely devalued because they're so good. Especially Trash 2, Neutron, and Ozone. Plus I just LOVE the harmony module in unison mode for when I want some lazy vocal doubles. Oh well

;) Yeah, on sale, again. I picked up a bunch of other iZotope stuff (in my quest for legitimacy). I found myself liking their stuff. And, I have The Finger and The Mouth. But, I liked what I saw on this one, too. As you said, we tend not to use things as much. But, I knew I'd rather have it than not.

It actually forms the behavior I picked up called 'patience.' Seeing that trend, I sometimes wait for these sales. It does tend to devalue things a bit, depending on what they are worth most of the time and/or in your mind.

Yeah i guess the key is to not let it get to your head that peeps are selling these things left and right. For myself, I know damn well there's not a distortion plugin on the market that's got much of anything on Trash 2. Between that and Saturn I'll never need another distortion for sound design (and yet I have probably half a dozen analog modeled ones, like an idiot. Different story though. That's just my love affair with u-he, soundtoys, klanghelm etc.)

True that. I passed on some things that caught my sale-peeping-eyes, recently. But, I also bought some others. Haha

Yessir. But my point was more that sometimes I look at the fact that everyone is selling their Izotope plugins for 40 bucks and go "damn, am I wrong and they're not really that good?"

Nope. They're good. I absolutely love Neutron for tracking. When I start really mixing I might swap out the exciter and one of the compressors for dedicated plugs, but what a useful channel strip. Shame that the EQ doesn't have and L/R or M/S but it's still perfect for vocals. I still maintain that Izotope makes top notch stuff.

Agreed. I just started messing around with it. Haven't gotten enough time for music in general to really test it out. But, I'm glad I got it. I started looking at the L/R and M/S options some other plugs boast. I am interested. But, I haven't messed around in that arena much. So, it's more of a 'let's learn how this works/sounds' vibe. I don't need to, yet. But, once I have something I want to share next, I will be looking for those options to test new ideas. As for now, I like iZotope. One dedicated dev pack in the legit bin for me.
