Paired with Rosen Digital IRs it's one of the best amp sims I've played.
The modular concept is perfect for multi tracking guitars.
Really liked S-gear 'til a few days ago.

Different tools for different tasks. I love S-Gear for regular jamming. Thermionik's modular approach sucks for that. Both sound great paired with Rosen Digital/3 Sigma Audio impulses.

But guess what. When mixing my latest project I was going crazy trying to EQ the guitars. They were either harsh with resonance spikes or just dull. Switching to Ownhammer impulses solved the problem right away.

Thermionik doesn't quite 'suck' for regular jamming? I already have a template in Ableton with all the efx goodies, controlled by a FCB1010. The Looper alone is hours of fun.
I would imagine Wayfarer sounds good with one of the Rosen IRs.

3sigma audio's acoustic impulse is quite interesting.

 

I meant that since Thermionik is not a "suite", it needs much more user involvement to create or browse presets on the spot. Creating presets one by one this way is definetely a chore compared to S-Gear.

Each amp simulator has its own "vibe". But honestly every time I want to jam I just load standalone S-Gear and go for it. I pretty much only use Thermionik when mixing metal projects these days.

It is nice to finally have two very capable amp sims. Modelling has come a long way since Roland's VG8.
