    Life, the universe, and everything....

Only in the VR forest, but you have to pay just to see a picture of it. Whether or not it is even a real tree and not photoshopped is still to be discerned though.

The older I get, the more I appreciate that what many of us in the west take for granted, like food, physical safety and a roof over our heads, as lots of people in the world go to bed hungry and in fear of their lives. This is one reason why I take great exception at people criticising refugees, because I'm pretty certain that those people would do exactly the same (seek safety) if they were placed in harm's way.

Similarly, I value friends, relatives and physical health far more than I did when I was younger, when I probably took things for granted. Obviously, the older you get the more funerals you attend. I went to one in September for someone who went far, far too soon. There's nothing like a funeral to concentrate the mind. Especially when you were close to that person and the realisation that you'll never enjoy a laugh and a drink with them ever again hits you.

I love that book. The scene where Dorian horribly lets down the actress in the dressing room is astonishingly brutal.

Someone told me that happiness is only a restrospective thing. I don't disagree. I tend to the Buddhist (?) thing of "Pain is the essence of being". How else could it be? :D
Somewhere fuzzy 'round there, yeah. :D

Yo is top dawg in the cosmos, maaan. Yo got respaaansibilities!
Yeah, gruesome. The finality is.......objectionable, unbelievable.

You can give all the meaning you want.. or none at all..
Though I figure the top 3 would be to actually try to live and not go through life like a zombie.. be as joyful as possible.. and to cooperate.. with the first two being mainly for humanoids like us.. while (ingroup) cooperation is the main theme for all lifeforms and in all the universe.

Alright then, thats it.. just one more wisdom according to LAdOnkey Tzu for the day

  8. Reading all of these posts brought me to the realization that when in youth and in the prime of our lives what we do is remember the past, i.e. yesterday, a year ago, when we were in grade school, etc, but when we reach a certain point, that inevitable moment when we realize and come to terms, finally internalize that we are finite and utterly destructible, when we can imagine our last breath, then we begin reminisce.

    And so, poetically...

When we are young we remember, when old we reminisce.

Well. Growing old is mandatory, but at least growing up isn't.

there is no meaning that man could explane, at the level of understanding our civilization is, other than to live and to reproduce... (and even that is questionable)

Anyway, it is an interesting ride ...enjoyable so far.

Wish You all a good time, without suffering and bad things
