    Hi all,

I'm an active member here, but this is my first thread created. Need a little assistance. I'm unable to use my maschine studio for the moment which is frustrating. And we all know Native Instruments customer support is terrible. My maschine controller will light up from the bottom corner to top left and show the start up lights. Then the maschine logo blinks really fast and turns off. The whole cycle with the colored lights and maschine logo blinking repeats endlessly. The controller just never just stays on with the lights lit. Does my maschine need repair??

I've uninstalled all drivers and installed all the new ones and done everything i can think of. Has anyone experienced this before? Any help is appreciated.

I know that if the Maschine is stuck on a black logo instead of the orange one you can restart the NIHardwareService through Task Manager > Services.
Sometimes helps to restart the computer with the Maschine unplugged after doing this.

If the device is stuck cycling through unsuccessful boots it's something else.
You said you updated the drivers, you could update the Controller Editor too if you haven't.
Maybe if you're on older firmware you can update using the Device Updater.

See that's the thing, it doesn't get stuck on a logo at all. The logo blinks and never stays on.

How do i restart the "NIHardwareService" on Mac??

I've tried using the device updater. I turn the maschine on and weird thing is it doesn't even detect a device. It says no device connected and advises to reconnect all my NI devices.

Have used maschine for quite some time and have never seen this.

    Activity Monitor, I think.
    Or launchctl and plists

If there's no logo at all and it keeps cycling I think it might be a hardware fault.

I think so too. I hate to deal with Native instruments support...but looks like i won't have a choice. Thank you.

You may also want to check the USB cord, swap it for another and see if the problem persists. I had something similiar where it would get stuck at the logo and flicker, come to find out it was a faulty USB cord.

Ok, thanks i'll check but it does that even WITHOUT a usb plugged in. Simply by just turning on the maschine studio itself.

Darn, then if you have a similiar power supply adapter, you could also test that, it could be that, otherwise as mentioned above it is most likely faulty hardware :-(

Check the manual, or online, maybe there is a hardware reset, like holding certain buttons down during power up.

Sound pretty much like some sort of boot loop to me. I'd test another USB cable first.

The problem could also be SMC related. Did you try an SMC Reset or resetting PRAM on your Mac yet?

Then there's or was also an N. I. uninstall utility which let's you fully remove maschine and drivers. Maybe something went wrong during installation/update.

If that doesn't solve it it could be a hardware issue with the controller.

AFAIK there is no hardware or factory reset for the Maschine.
Connecting the Studio to NI Controller Editor and is the closest thing and that only works if the device is undetected with the black logo.

This is a long shot but can you put the device into standard MIDI-mode with SHIFT+CHANNEL?

Plugging in to another computer with different USB and power cables will tell you for sure.

What about the Maschine plist? You could delete it from your preferences (after making a backup of the file)and restart your computer.

How to resolve plugin path scanning issue with Maschine.
    • Article #33762
    • Updated on Apr 17, 2012 at 7:13 PM
With NI’s Maschine if the plugin path is set to too broad of a path (ex. setting your plugin path as the entire C drive) this can cause crashing when Maschine tries to scan files that are not plugins.Remove the files below will reset your plugin paths and resolve this issue.

    Windows:
    (userhome)\AppData\Local\Native Instruments\Maschine\Plugins_i a32.xml
    (userhome)\AppData\Local\Native Instruments\Maschine\Plugins_x 64.xml

    Mac OS:
    (user)\library\application support\Native Instruments\Maschine\Plugins_i a32.xml
    (user)\library\application support\Native Instruments\Maschine\Plugins_x 64.xml

Thanks Guys! SOOOO incredibly glad i didn't have to deal with NI. I appreciate all the comments, help, and cable switching tip as it made me start unplugging things.

I tried multiple usb cables before and it didn't work. So it made me go to a different outlet and try a different power cord. Sure enough that fixed it. I recently switched some things around in the studio and changed my setup.

The power cord I was using must have had enough juice to make the maschine work properly causing it to turn on, but turn off immediately. That must have been causing the brief flashing maschine logo i was seeing.

Many thanks again! Took me a week, but we finally figured out the source of the problem! Back to music!:disco:
