Does anyone here use lilac writer?

That's a negative to lilac. In the old days I used to keep a notebook and pen close to hand to jot down my ideas, but now, in the future, I use this thing called a computer and save my lyrics as rich text documents.

Settle, petal. In my book he's alright for asking and doesn't deserve a response like that. :like:

This is the answer of an old grumpy, but immature person. Posted in public for all the world to see.
    Have a nice day:bleh::rofl:

Yeah. I'm using pen and paper at the mo, with lyrics and sequencer settings, sounds etc, as I'm usually at my gear when I write. Lilac writer seems like a handy thing, as your lyrics are in the cloud, and you can log on from any computer. So I was just wondering if anyone had experience of it.

Obviously a couple of cans short of a six pack and didn't understand the question. Maybe he thought I wanted a verbasizer.

I use voice notes on my cell phone. I might record words or phrases, guitar or bass riffs, or melodies. Then I dump them in my hard drive to go back later when the time is right. BTW, it hasn' been the right time for a while now. That's bad.

Something happens when I physically write with a pen on paper. Personally I don't like typing on a computer keyboard, although it is very handy when editing text.

I've thought about using my phone. Do you use any particular app? I've not worked at what the right time for me is yet. Only started writing about three weeks ago.

I'm finding myself a bit like this. I was thinking of this lilac writer as a way to keep it in order after.

  15. I need to get the preliminaries out of the way and first thank Baxter for letting me borrow his notebook. Thanks Brother.

I always need to have a notebook with me or else I feel naked, lonely and alone. I used to need to have different ones with me, one for lyrics and poetry, one for stories and then one that had "finalized" bits in it and that needed no revision. Now a days I just carry one and a backup if I so happen to run out of paper in the first. What I physically write with feels very important too. For years I would buy the Migro (a large supermarket chain here in Switzerland) store brand that came as a packet of six pencils with three different colored barrels, orange, light blue and green, but only would use the green ones because they had better words waiting for me in their graphite cores , giving the others away to people who didn't seem to understand the obvious difference : -). But sadly Migro changed up their design and the magic of the green pencil is no more. Believe me you, it was a dreadful moment to come to the realization that I no longer would sharpen the point of my beloved. Thank goodness I found a new, other magical utensil that embodies the pixie spirit, that in which the Muse deems righteous and bestows her special powers that I might flourish, grow and share her wisdom, her secret stories, that I might have breath as well as life (that last bit about having a life these days is however debatable) It can be found in the blue or even the sexy purple FRIXION ball by Pilot. Thank goodness for the march of technology. Who could have imagined being able to erase what needs to disappear after being issued with a liquid pen? I always have three with me as well as carry extra ink cartridges...just in case. And because I need to take a certain medication that tries to drown me but only manages to slow me down mentally, I am thankful for the dictionary and thesaurus that is always snatchable and which reside in both my phone and tablet, always ready to reference at a moment's notice. Welcome to my world.

I use a tablet (or my phone) with an app called docs to go. It doubles as my lyric cheat sheet when I play out sometimes. I store then in .doc format so that I can edit on a PC when needed.

This is the primary scratchpad, though. My writing really improved after I got one of these as it's the easiest way to capture a spur of the moment idea. Makes a much better recording than a phone does, but I suppose a phone could be used in a pinch (voice notes).

I use personal experiences, emotional turmoil, the whole gamut of moods and feelings from greif to joy, day-to-day life, latent memories, as well as premonitions of the unforeseen future to write my lyrics.
Wait a minute, I've been making EDM.
    There are no lyrics.

I use the default Voice Memos on the iPhone. I've tried downloading every fancy free app, but that basically puts technology and GUI before creativity. I guess simplicity seems to actually get me to do stuff. Even to record rehearsals I use my phone. One thing to consider is that you need a phone that can handle the input without distorting. Clip-distorted audio is a boner killer when recording ideas.

All my music stuff is automatically saved in my sequencers, which is kind of handy. It's my vocal stuff I need to find a way of keeping in some order though.

That first vocal track I posted is from personal experience, though many moons ago now, which I will finish now I have an fx processor.
I'm working on a different one right now, but use some ears on if you get the time. In the what are you working on thread.
Then when I'm done with them, I might write a song about a grumpy old git who hated the eighties.
