Im a huge fan of 80s music/movie production.
I have seen every movie that deals with the old american dream, small town kid who wants to make it etc...
    You get the picture.
Never seen this movie, although i know the soundtrack very well.
I have to say im glad i didnt, because it was fucking horrible.Probably the worst of these kind of movies.
Just one long music video, with weak characters, shitty acting and a weak story.
I liked some of the cinematography, but thats about it.
Man, this movies sucked big time.
Moroder did the soundtrack, thats the best thing about this movie.
    Especially liked this song.

problem with 80s movies is that i find the ones you didnt grow up with always seem terrible when you watch them for the first time as an adult.
even the lamest 80s movies are utterly amazing, but only if you had it on VHS back in the day.

Maybe, though ive seen Staying Alive a few years ago, never seen it as a kid and loved it and its score is a lot lower on IMDB.
Stallone directed it, soundtrack is one of the best, i even bought it later. The critics tore it apart, the movie has lots of heart compared to Flashdance wich is just a long music video.

"Hey i have this idea,(sniffs some cocaine)....so she`s a welder and also dances in a night bar and she also falls in love with her boss who happens to own a Porsche, lets call Moroder and sell this shit, hey its the 80s, we can do whatever the fuck we want!"

All time favorite 80's movie? If I can only pick one I would have to say Dune. I was also a huge fan of the books before the movie and always a fan of sci-fi.
The story and plot is so deep on so many levels and enlightening in the way it compares to our current ideologies.

Maybe Frank Herbert should have started Scientology instead, LoL

If you havent seen, check out All the right moves from 1983.
One of the best acting from Tom Cruise.Movie was filmed in a cold/wet Pennsylvanian steel town, great setting and cinematography, great atmosphere.

The Terminator is a personal favorite.
Amazing soundtrack. Brilliantly subversive narrative. The only thing that doesn't hold up in this movie are the hairstyles and for some people even that's debatable.
One other film comes close in my mind is Alien and that's from '79.
Highly unoriginal, I know. I love these too.

Not in the theaters. I was too young to get in, but on vhs and hbo. My step dad had good taste. He owned the cheech and chong tapes too

Lol @Herr Durr but my mom's VHS video player in the front room here still works fine as do the collection of dusty tapes sitting on top of it....it only occasionally chews up and eats a tape when it's very very hungry! In fact it's a bit like watching 'Catchup' on the Smart TV when you have missed things the first time around just more cables and boxes and remote controls involved. :)

I am with @bluerover..... +1 for Empire of the Sun but i do have a sneaky desire to go now and risk the wrath and hunger of the Betamax killing monster and put this tape into its mouth (slot)....
