The USA maybe collapsing in on itself but at least both Hillary and Trump are actually being held to account on most of the things they've done or said.

Russia has a never ending list of political prisoners, assassinated politicians and dissidents.

Truth is Putin and Russias strength is massively exagerated. Let's face they can't even organise their weapons properly among their proxy armies that are only a few miles over their own border! Hence MH17 (Anybody remember that ?). Putin feels trapped by EU/NATO, unruly caucuses and most importantly, an expansionist China.

Setting up a huge power vacuum in Russia when he dies. He certainly isn't going to relinquish power and has ostrasied anybody who goes against him politically and judging from MH17, militarily too.

 

Replacing the OS in your government offices with Linux is a good idea and all governments should do that.

There is nothing that a government office does that can not be handled by basic software that no only can you get for nothing but you can also compile yourself at no cost. The Germans were on the forefront of this with LINUX. Hell even UNIX in its early inception with open kernels and the TCIP/IP distributed storage was influenced by the US DoD.

Spreading rumors and blocking access to the public market, is something that probably breaks a few trade deals...

Generally even when countries are angry at each other they tend to respect to a certain extent the trade agreements they have in place with each other and it is not uncommon for countries that are outwardly hostile to each other to still have certain trade channels open.

The do or not do -- is not always a military solution, there a great many civil servants that do nothing but talk and consume large amounts of whiskey or bourbon at functions whose only purpose it is to facilitate business and the flow of money between sovereign nations states. This is generally where all negotiations start or break down, regardless of the political flux of the time.

Me personally, I could care less, and I think the good people at embassies and relations offices should not care either or kill their warm delicious water of life induced buzz by talking about this.

I do not see how any of that translates into some sort of imperialist zero sum scenario where some where we will all be chained to the wall and forced to watch reruns of the Andy Griffith show while wearing 'merika baseball camps and humming hail to the chief.

There is plenty of journalism in the USA that doesn't suck, you just have to know where to look, and additionally, one needs always question any reporting in any country anywhere around the globe. What is not said can be more telling than what actually is.

If reporters are disappeared or jailed for speaking against their government, or never do for because of that fear, what good is it to read a newspaper except for maybe the sports section. Can someone tell me, that is, one that has criticized the American press, which major media outlets in your country are actually practicing real investigal journalism, and even more so, especially around an election. I have a friend from Indonesia that NEVER travels home during elections because he says it gets way too freaky.
