Not in front of my computer right now but are you saying that you don't even need R2R's keygen at all?
The mklink commands create directory junctions so instead of you having to overwrite the Program Files folders and .dlls you run the command and it creates symlinks to the files in the C folder in the FIXED release that Kontakt will read instead of the actual Program Files in their actual directories.

I wonder if you're using a shortcut to a different Kontakt.exe than the one packed in the release?

Try opening two file explorer windows side by side.
In one go to the FIXED release files and the other to your actual C drive.
Go in to the Program Files in the C folder in the FIXED release in the first window and go into your actual Program Files in the second.
Keep doing this until you get to the actual Kontakt files in both.
The windows should mirror each other.
Copy and paste the the FIXED release files into your actual folder.
Do this for the Program Files (x86), Common Files and the Native Instruments folder containing .dlls
You should have found files to replace for everything that was in the FIXED symlink release.
Launch the Kontakt.exe you just pasted into the Program Files folder.
Think happy thoughts.
I don't believe it is needed...

The only thing it changed for me was the logo from Kontakt Player to Kontakt.
*I posted on the other site and it was suggested as a way to fix it.

The license stated it was 'Full' prior to this, and I'd been using Kontakt without issue before I ran the keygen, so I believe it wasn't really required.

With regard to what was posted earlier abt the serial numbers not matching on the pics posted... I've just checked my version and my serial is totally different to both of the one's posted previously...

So again I think this isn't something to be concerned with.

I never needed it for the FIXED release or any libraries I've added since, no.

@Who Me is right. I just ran R2R's Keygen and I have a different serial but everything is still activated and Kontakt is still the full version.

Update your Service Center to the most current version and firewall it. If you run Service Center online and it's not firewalled it will deactivate anything with generated serials.

That's it, I solved it: Basically I copied everything manually instead of relying on the scripts, and I never had to use R2R's keygen.

Thanks a lot everyone for your kind help and specially to Pinkman and WhoMe for leading me in the right direction!

Now it's time to get back making some music!!!

Can you summarize step-by-step the correct procedure to install the version 5.6.1 on 5.5.0?

I didn't install 5.6.1 over 5.5.0, I started from scratch.

Anyway, the steps I followed are:

1. Copy the content of the C folder in the relevant locations.
2. Install Service Center and firewall the exe.
3. Edit the Reg file and check the different paths, especially the vst folder.
4. Merge the registry entry "x64 Windows Kontakt 5" (if you are on a 64 bit OS of course).
5. Launch your DAW and check for new plugins.

For me it did the trick and solved my issues, all the rest was pure BS very poorly translated from russian to english that got me totally confused.

Probably I will stay in the 5.5.0 version (waiting for a version with no problems), but I still want to know how to make the transition to 5.6.1 ... for when you can not not do it!

Along with the paths mentioned by everyone else - if you want to start fresh, here are some default locations and key strings to look for.

Make Sure that you've run the uninstaller before you do anything, then delete any of the following folders if they exist:

C:\Program Files\Native Instruments\
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Native Instruments

C:\Program Files (x86\Native Instruments\
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Native Instruments

C:\ProgramData\Native Instruments\

C:\Users\PC\Documents\Native Instruments
C:\Users\PC\AppData\Local\Native Instruments

Then, within the registry, make sure that none of these keys exist, and also make sure to search for anything related to "Service Center" as well. Also, I'd strongly recommend you back up you're registry first before you make any changes, just to be on the safe side.

Registry keys to remove:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.NKB
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.NKI
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.NKM
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.NKP
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.NKS
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\NI.Kontakt 5.nki
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\NI.Kontakt 5.nkm

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Native Instruments

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Native Instruments
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Native Instruments

HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Native Instruments

Whoa bro!

Append all these paths with \Kontakt 5 or you'll destroy all your existing NI program installations as well.

I followed this and it worked perfectly. I had 5.6.0 R2R installed with everything set up and had the 'activate' buttons, which didn't really bother me to be honest as they still worked perfectly. I simply uninstalled Kontakt 5 using the inbuilt Windows uninstaller (I usually use IObit Uninstaller Pro but didn't want a deep clean to try and carry over libraries added and order etc). I then followed these instructions and now it works perfectly, all libraries loading and fully working, no 'activate' buttons and on 5.6.1.

Lucky man! I made many attempts on 2 pc (Win 8.1), even starting from scratch with no installed version of Kontakt before but have never managed to make it work.
On my work pc - the one with whom I make music - I remain with 5.5.0 ... I'm too afraid of ruining everything!

Complete reinstall of the OS doesn't make any difference at all... last week I did a fresh install of Windows 7 Pro with all the trouble of drivers, windows updates and other things but I still have the same Kontakt 5.5.2 "Activate" and "Demo" issue like many others here... so please don't waste time doing a fresh install, this is not the answer!!!

Any chance to know where you got the 5.5.0.409 installation file from?

Thanks a lot in advance!

Say Vega: It's been awhile now, so I don't remember where I originally obtained it, but If you send me a PM, I'll point you in the right direction.

Are you running Kontakt in standalone mode to add your library before you run it as a plugin?
To avoid any user permission conflicts your libraries should be added in standalone mode. While running as admin.
I've realized through PM conversations that some of these instructions are being followed while running Kontakt as a plugin in a DAW.
Please run Kontakt.exe as Administrator then try to add those constantly failing libraries.
In a perfect world it shouldn't make a difference but in those most frustrating cases it makes all the difference in the world.

Hi Pinkman,

Thanks for your continuous help, much appreciated!!

I always add libraries into Kontakt in Standalone with Administrator privilege but to double check before launching Kontakt I right-clicked and chose "Run as administrator" then try adding a library but unfortunately the "Activate" and "Demo" issue persists:-(

I have checked the Kontakt version installed in another audio PC of mine which works perfectly (Kontakt 5.5.1.451) and I have noticed that instead of showing Kontakt it shows Kontakt Player! (Please have a look at the attached screenshot).

I am not really sure why it says Kontakt Player becuase I have used the full Kontakt installer.

Cheers...
