Hi Guys. As im actually getting a new TV and will need Speakers, I was thinking about using my Event Tr8 for that purpose and replace them as Im thinking there are definitley better Monitors around there.
I would need some EQ working constantly to give them more of a Hifi Sound, would a Tvs EQ (most likely Samsung or LG) be qualified for that?
Im just thinking better invest the 1k i have atm in Monitors and get Hifi System another time, or maybe the Event just work fine for that and I get a good Hifi Sound and better monitoring without buying two new pieces.
Another question thats on my mind, did Monitors get significant better in the last ten years?(Tr8 are from 2004) Cause Manufacturers are promoting this and that, but is there really development in this area or is that all just marketing. Is a 500€Speaker (on average obv) from today better than a 500€Speaker from 2004, 1994...? Cause afaik Speakers dont lose much in value, the principle is the same, so the gap shouldnt be big if theres one at all.

They might not lose much in value but the ferrofluid in the driver units does dry out over time and the speaker "get tired". The expected lifetime of those ferrofluids is usually around 20-25 years. So I wouldn't buy speakers that old. Unless they are rarities like the k+h oy or something like that :)
