interesting... for me it was abacab.. it sounded really different at the time compared to the average fare..
it remains my fave Genesis album.. yes I have it on vinyl still... then Genesis became the Phil Collins show
with his trademark schtick... then fewer and fewer gems..
funny thing, I think Gabriel and Genesis both got better when they parted... rare

It depends on how many memebrs changed and how deeply they were involved in their writing process, sometimes even 1 member is enough to consider them a new band

Although to be fair, I was more of a Brian Johnson fan than Bon Scott, mostly because my intro to them was Highway to Hell. I think Bon Scott was great and even if there were some vocal similarities, I prefer Brian's more aggressive vocals. Incidentally, Thunderstruck is possibly one of if not the best rock song ever written... impossible to not get so amped when this comes on that you immediately want to throttle shit lol
