yes but those Nlite and RT seven do not take care of Services , it is just microsoft addons that get taken out. For the services is really the key to windows being used properly for audio work. Windows itself is not really in all sense ready for tight audio recording, it's a mainstream OS, so you have to get your hands dirty and do some work.

Did you know that it was MOTU not apple, that came up with the audio system for MAC OS X.
So now MOTU is coming to the PC with Digital Performer 8, as Apple is dumping Logic on all users not just pro's so Motu is now forced to come to windows. Will windows users ignore them for their MAC ONLY foolishness? Only time will tell

Yes they do take care of the services you have set them under the registry setting in Nlite or rt 7, but I find the services are best left on till you have all the software on you want use. Backup your registry before you go turning services off. When you have done back up the registry again so all you have to do is import the reg file next you reinstall windows & all your software.

    Hope this helps

Ya the problem with services is this those programs don't know that windows 7 uses 8 services for network alone. Windows 7 services have way to many dependencies with other services this is why I try to make people understand why XP has a big ass advantage over windows 7 due to less services and less dependencies of each other.

    XP has 3 network services

    DHCP
    Network connections
    Wireless

Look at the windows 7 services LOL good luck

Do you realize how many Windows 7 installations I killed in order to learn what every single service did with it's dependency. Try 40 install Kills. One time I killed too many services and Win 7 crapped out right on the desktop

Those Nlite utilities can't account for that. Windows 7 is wrong on the services mentaliity.

I got windows 7 down to 15 processes ( user+ system) and still have simple network access, some features won't be seen, tray icon example)

You see I run services from batch files, like this

On the heavily modified win 7:

    When I run the daw:
Batch #1- turns off DHCP, turns off printer spooler, all network services in specific order or else you get error messages due to the stupit ass dependencies.

When I am done with the daw
Batch #2-Turns on DHCP, turn on print spooler then all network services all in order as to no have errors.

This took weeks to figure out what service has to start first or stopped first or last what a fuckin nightmare.

Again no offense to anybody why do we need to run 8 services for network alone? LMFAO
    that is moronic

here are the details- no apps running

Both OS running Bblean Shell - so that's less 20-30 megs less ram usage

WinXP SP2- taskmanager -6 processes 42 megs system footprint ( ram usage)
    Windows 7 64 bit-task manager- 15 processes(system+user) 320 megs system footprint.

As you can see no matter how you tweek windows 7 no matter what utlity you use, nothing beats doing it with batches as this way you can have services stopped when not needed/ on when needed on the fly no reboot needed. those ulities can't account for windows 7 dependencies.

Get back to using batch files to run all your system tasks.

Sorry but the batchs kill any nlite crap.
