    As I said before, great inspiration and very good parts to learn can be found into
    Maceo Parker, Songs Like Shake Everything You've got, with Jerry Preston on Bass, Tatalia on guitar specially this version:

    or Basic Funk 101

    Nilse Landgren Funk Unit, Fred Wesley , Average White Band ...

    I'll have a look at this Al Leonard Bass Method Funk Bass, thanks for the tip.
    I don't have the score for this song, and I'm almost sure it does not exist. I just learned to play it by ears. AS the bass is alone at the beginning it's quiet easy to have a good idea. Leaving the intro, take it from 0:27 to0:49 you got a good to loop to work on, even though the last 2 bars are a bit tricky.

    @ Hardcore311,

    Well... do you want to learn 'Funk Bass' guitar, so carefully listen to the styles, personality and 'how-to-do' of the following 'legendary' Bass players (among others) :

    * Larry Graham
    * Marcus Miller

    These two Legends :bow: are true 'Slap Machines' :woot: , but not only ! :no:

    Yes these 2 are great bass players, even though we cant think funk bass is all about slapping. I mean too many people think this which is very limitating, that's why I like so much Jerry Preston's style , there is slap, it's modern but keep the roots in it.

    I wonder how could I play it without this... :rofl:

    Here is another version of Shake everything you got, played by Rodney Curtis on Bass, I really prefer Jerry Preston's playing, but it's interesting too:

    A tutorial by one of my favorite bass players- Francis "Rocco" Prestia of Tower of Power fame. Essential finger-funk bass playing wizard. Someone say funk and instantly slap and pop comes to mind but I love finger-funk player like Rocco Prestia and Stuart Zender (ex- Jamiroqaui)

    OK time to get funking :grooves: :speaker: :headbang:

    thanks for creating this thread hardcore...i'm not a bass player, but the feeling i get, and i could be wrong, is that funk is a feeling..James Jamerson said he saw a large woman walking down the street with her bum swinging and that gave him the feeling for how a piece could go.

    I see Larry Graham quite often, but we never got a chance to speak. Recently the opportunity arose, and I got a chance to chat with him a little bit. I understand he's really talented but, what impressed me the most is how down to earth him and his wife were. Super cool, humble individuals!
