Media topic. Given that great minds think alike, hopefully musical minds can do teh same. Anyway, let everyone know what ur watching using ur eyes & give everyone a heads up. Here's mine:

    TV:

Mr Robot (obvs) just sublime. A bit like Fight Club, except instead of watching dudes pummel each other's faces in dingy basements using paranoia... Mr Robot has dudes pummel each other's keyboards in dingy squats using paranoia. It's loads better than that sounds =D

    Film:

Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping. Don't wanna hype this too much, just watch and enjoy. Sends up celeb culture, music biz & the cast is sublime. One mystery is how Connor's excellent album got negative reviews?
Midnight Run. Just remastered, and prolly de Niro's best work. Well, the only work he's done that makes u feel teh feels. Plus, it's amusing & feelgood.

    Games:

New Deus Ex, Splatoon is having swansong, so worth getting back into, Towerfall & Nidhogg (still :) sry that's mainly old stuff =(

    Podcast:

The worst idea of all time. Two dudes use vowel randomizers (NZ accents) & watch the same (terrible) film 52 times for a year & discuss their impending madness.

I'm a massive fan of the Joe Rogan Experience podcast. Psychedelics, fight sports, random interesting stuff and people, masculinity in the age of recreational outrage, what's not to like?

I don't really watch anything on TV but I follow Game of Thrones since GRRM will die of obesity before finishing the Winds of Winter.
Keep an eye out for The Dark Tower series. Adaptation of another great epic fantasy series.

I have an Xbox One but don't do much gaming. I play UFC2 with my brother/friends. Borderlands series.

Deus Ex does look fantastic. I'm very interested in trying the newest Just Cause game (the grappling hooks/parachute combo just looks like so much fun) but again, it'll be a mortal age before I get around to it. I've also been a lifelong fan of the Metal Gear games, and I haven't tried anything since MGS3 so I may get around to that one day.

stranger things was great series, great characters etc. look forward to season 2
    i don't play games ( any more)
i thought that Under the Skin was an amazing film ( it certainly has one shit-hot soundtrack)

podcast: am watching a lot of news ( the HRC stuff is somehow addictive) at the moment and a lot Bill Maher 'New Rules' can be very funny..

pS. do people still read books?
i want to suggest Stuart Lee's "How I Escaped My Certain Fate", maybe only relevant if you are british. the funniest book i have ever read by a country mile ( it's about being a standup comic)
    : )

Thanks 4 the various heads-up, guys!

Yeah, ST was rly good. Don't understand all that silly <3 Barb shit, tho. She can go screw herdelf! UTS: yeah, I liked the ironic description they used 2 market it. Also I dunno if u saw It Follows? Similar but different kinda vibe, also nice score by Disasterpeace.

Yeah, when u got time u gotta try MGSV, has a lot of the MGS(1) vibe. I got a bit fed up after u "complete" it, and have 2 continue. U get remixed levels @ (smtimes) mega hardcore diff. U spend ages (!) sneaking thru lvl, and one guard u miss spots u just @ finish. Grr. It is still brilliant, tho, just so many options & like "real" action film that u can improvise crazy stuff around.

Yeah, not rly a huge fan until this (last) series, kinda did a lot of slow-burn feels (Hodor ;__;) & epic shit. I also still lol @ Jon Snurr's wobbly sword:

Is that liek Grindr, or? =)

Yeah, but which ones do u like? Still enjoy some of Korean & Scandi films, although I haven't had time 2 watch Haneke's last effort.

All sound is propaganda; which sounds can ur edgy ears tolerate?

    Haven't had a T.V for 7 years.

Films. Just stuff for general amusement really, but don't bother with the cinema much. Last time was 2010.

Don't play computer games anymore, wastes to much time.

    Rarely bother with podcasts.

Like to read a bit of Graham Masterton now and then.

@The Teknomage Jeez, how do u relax ur brain & stop it from overheating - is it just pharma? I mean everyone deserves 2 have some time away from music, don't u think?

@The Teknomage Yeah, I dunno if u get a total break from music when u spin / run, I know I do? Time away from music increases ur appetite for it, I think? Getting exhausted or even just super tired can help u get "in the zone", u know? I dunno if I'd want my ears full of distractions @ that point? Kinda why I asked 4 podcast recs...

TV: "Vinyl" is an American period drama television series created by Mick Jagger, Martin Scorsese the best of the 70's and a good example "how the whole Rockbusiness hype started"

Movie: all Movies from late 50s to 70s called "French New Wave" because of the music and "Zeitgeist" . Good examples to start : "Breathless" and "Elevator to the Gallows"

Internet : Cubase and Synthesizerstuff: watch tutorials of John"Skippy" Lehmkuhl, ADSR, ClubCubase, Steinberg, FMN (GERMAN), sonicstate

YouTube: watch all Documentaries abt the 60s and 70s abt making records and/or how the great Bands started...
example: Kraftwerk and the electronic revolution or this : https://www.youtube.com/user/classicalbums/videos

I only get 2 hours a day, if I'm lucky to concentrate 100 percent on making music, and that's never non stop. It's not often I spend a lot of time listening to music, unless I get into one of those Youtube clickathons.

Yeah I watched some gameplay vids on youtube. It looks like huge fun. The Raiden slasher game looks sweet too. Wasn't expecting to see him again after MGS2, but whaddaya know, he's a cyborg now lol

Btw - if you're a fan of horror games, you should really check out Outlast. I actually loathe horror genre... anything. Just not a fan of gratuitous gore, and even though Outlast is full of that, I somehow sat through an entire playthrough of it on youtube with some obnoxious douchebag Youtuber shouting through it the whole time. I just couldn't stop watching.
Although I tried to find it for Xbox one and had some troubles. It might just be a PC game?

Music and sound related: the 'Soundbreaking' series. An 8 part documentary about recording music in the last decades, with over 150 interviews and backstage/studio clips. I have the series, willing to post, but it's in SD quality and with Dutch Subtitles..
