    So finally I made it...

Coming from trying out various DAWs and used to of conventional workflows, it was not easy et all. I took a brief hiatus, had many ups and downs, got depressed, and went through a lot of difficulties but hard work always pays off. It was like to train a wild and powerful horse. Most of the time it was 'give and give' with some 'take' here and there until all 'takes' translated into a massive reward. Now I can say that I am comfortable with Reaper and it's strengths are becoming my strengths.

Most of you already know that I have been using Studio One so it is easy to imagine that I was adapted to a great, logical work flow which is what S1 is famous of. Switching over was not easy but one of the strength of Reaper is to translate your workflow into Reaper either exactly or closed to of what you have been used to of. So I managed to literally dragged my workflow into it and now feel home.

Now to you masters of Reaper! There are certain things which I am sure Reaper is capable to do but I couldn't find the answers anywhere. I will try to be as simple and straight forward as possible,

    1. I want to assign cc11 to cc1 (mod wheel) simultaneously. I want to define the parameters that cc11 must start after cc1 say at the value of 50 (0-127), i.e., 50:0 (cc1:cc11).

    2. I want to make a channel output going directly into another channel input (not send). Like using the other channel as mix-bus. Then that channel to master. Is it Post fader (post pan), Pre-fader (post fx) or Pre fx? and disabling Master?

    3. Can I permanently have 'window float selected Fx' enabled?

    4. And a request please! Please mention your most useful workflow tips and tricks. Be them shortcuts, configurations, easy to follow themes, extensions, anything, everything :)

Thank you in advance. I might come up with some more queries in coming follow ups so please bear with me.

One of the best theme - Commala or Commala Light. I find them most practical, but not most good looking.

Did you post your questions in the actual Reaper blogs? Those guys have the most detailed knowledge and info on Reaper's
capabilities. I am sure some users here have a wealth of knowledge also, but I have found some really great tips
and user created add ons in the specific forums. Sorry don't have anything specific to your questions.

I do know there seem to be some issues lately with the fx window, people just not happy with how it behaves.
including me. It sort of gets in the way for me, always having to move it.

Congrats on your switch to Reaper tho... you won't regret it !

@Ankit It's a great looking theme, I sure will have a look. Thanks.

@Herr Durr Sorry for my lack of knowledge here, you mean Reaper's indigenous forum? If so, I have already tried to search my queries and got some vague answers. May be because am new I didn't get them right?! Thanks for recommendation though, I will think about posting there after I am done with hard searching. For fx window, I thought I am the only one who noticed this kinda odd behaviour but as I am into exploring now, I didn't pay much attention, in fact regarded as my lack of understanding in configuration.

yeap.. just register and ask away, since users can be involved in skinning and creating add-ons,
    improving the Reaper experience,

there you will find a lot of people who are enthusiastic about solving Reaper issues.
They really like to help from what I have seen.

    (non documented)

into REAPER.ini (X:\Users\XXX\AppData\Roaming\REAPER) just below [reaper]

if u are in EDM then automation(modulation) will be the critical point, so let's check what needs to able to emulate the FL automation clip system

    - first needs a plugin which converts automation curves to MIDI expression ( Script to convert Envelope Automation to MIDI Expression! http://forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?t=42960 ) to able to use automation curves inside clips, clips and all of their contents (fxs) can be synced in Reaper with propagation actions so the FL pattern based behavior can be emulated nicely (syncing working clip name and per track based)

    - secondary there is a nice user based modulation system in Reaper >the Lua: Mapping Panel ( http://forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?t=170044 ) it needs some "fake" slider as source, BlueCats Remote Control can be used for this, so the communication chain is the following one, it has zillions of features worth to read the whole topic

clips based envelope automation > envelope MIDI Exp. converter > Remote Control > Mapping Panel > target

if u need LFO can use Cableguys MIDI shaper, so it whole process looks like this (far faster with using track templates ofc.)

one more, it hasn't got articulation support, currently
    http://www.syntheticorchestra.com/articulatereaper/
    is the only one helper

and worth to check the scripting forum of Reaper by viewers count (there are some brilliant script in it, like the Cubase track versioning just better, bounce in place from Bitwig just better etc. :) )

+ workflow should be multi dock/screen based

@xbitz Thanks a lot. My genre is orchestral, cinematic, trailer whatever you call it. But Envelope automation to midi seems to be a great tool and a new idea for me. Regarding articulate, BRSO articulate was the first thing I installed though I am still half way to build a template. It is also a great little tool. And although a painful process, finally I have managed to make my own docking environment which I am comfortable with. This Multi docker tutorial is the best I have see so far. Thanks again for the tips. Please post more power user tips when you got free time.

can insert scales/chord/arps into PR directly
    http://reaperblog.net/2012/03/midi-editor-powerup-instant-chords-scales-and-arpeggios/

diagonal MIDI splitting (same as in FL Studio) is here http://forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?p=1699076#post1699076
for folding (removing non used MIDI note rows) u need scale mode files http://stash.reaper.fm/v/2898/scales and modes.zip

"orchestral, cinematic, trailer" worth to check the subproject feature if u missed

outs of multi timbral insturment can be looped back to the original soure MIDI tracks, the templates can be simpler

dunno if something comes to my mind then gonna write it :)

@xbitz I figured out the first question in my op. I will copy/paste what I posted in Reaper's forum.

"For anyone who is interested in it I will rephrase my query. I wanted to control multiple CC parameters with single controller, say mod wheel. E.g., with mod wheel I wanted to control CC1 and CC11 (dynamics and expression) at the same time. I also wanted to fix the values like CC11 should start when mod wheel value has reached 50 (could be any) while CC1 behaves normally, i.e., 0-127. These two are very important parameters in some Kontakt libraries, for instance Spitfire.

    So here is how to:

In fx chain select two instances of JS: Midi CC Mapper.

Settings on first Midi CC Mapper --> Controller source: Mod wheel, Controller target: Mod wheel. Pass through CC source: No.
Settings on second Midi CC Mapper --> Controller source: Mod wheel, Controller target: Expression. Clamp low value: 50 (any), Pass through CC source: Yes.
Note: You can load as many Midi CC Mappers you want but the Pass through CC source should always be Yes. Only for mod wheel to mod wheel No.

After that, fire up an instance of Kontakt with any library which responds to these CC parameters, in my case Spitfire Albion II Strings low patch. Move the mod wheel slowly up. All CC parameters will be controlled by mod wheel (one controller) and start to effect when mod wheel passes through the individually given value! That's it.

One advantage of this is you do not need to draw or play individual CC overdubs. At least CC1, CC11 and CC7 (volume) are interconnected with each other so you can set their starting and ending values. Also, vibrato (mostly for strings patches) can be assigned that when CC1 reaches 100, vibrato would come in effect.

Hope this is helpful for newbies like me and find it useful in certain scenarios."
