i'd do highpass filter @ 150hz, lowpass @ 4khz, u-he satin for tape hiss and flutter, bitcrusher to 12 bit.

lol on the time machine , but it really just interests me because its like thats the best audio they had back then , and that was considered normal broadcast sound , compared to today's sounds , its like a different world ...

Listened on my phone and not carefully. Possibly to get this I would use filters, tape saturators with (automated/random) wow n flutter , nebula stuff, manual pitch editing, tape hiss... Starting point using these kit of processors IMHO, something like that... Blah blah blah

Tapes but not only, in that video they're using some retro sounds , sounds like some mellotron to me.

the effect your looking for is in fact a wow / flutter effect + hard tape noise .

I wouldn't recommend that version RoBoT, some problems with that one, better the updated version...

*Fixed crash when stopping to quickly from extreme travelling speeds.
*Added Morlock proof anti drag spikes.
*Upgraded kerosene heater for extra warmth whilst travelling through ice age periods.
*Adapted and integrated flux capacitor stolen from Emmett Brown in 1985 to improve visual resolution of women's clothing changes on mannequins in shop front windows.
    *Various other minor fixes.

P.S. Hope you didn't mind the time machine jokes ca5plays, you already got the correct answers from a few guys, but I will add, the wow and flutter effect was overused in that commercial, to the point of becoming annoyingly too far out of tune, way too wonky.

dont forget we were "bouncing" tracks several times back in these days, meaning use tape tracks and record them again and again, so everytime the hizz/noise floor get worse, the wow and flutter adds, and the frequency range decreases, its NOT only the Tape, its the 4-5 times rerecording on tape effect. I had already good HiFi equipment in the mid 70s, but no 4 or 8 track...

This reminds me of old VCR recordings played back on a cheap machine. You can achieve this with a tape effect with lots of hiss, wow and flutter. Try u-he Satin, if you open the advanced panel you can tweak these parameters to your liking. Set tape speed to 15 IPS with low pre-emphasis. Also experiment with settings like bias and asperity. You want a HF rolloff to dull the sound a bit.
