something about cracked versions of live deleting project files, never happened to me though cause I always back up discs offline and harddrives, probably just a hoax.

There is a delete/damage function. It depends on the patch though, if there is a slight mistake in the app data and you have the internet on, Ableton will know you crack it and jack your project file up, so always always use a cracked version of Ableton offline. Its best to just buy Ableton!

    Shit i didn't know this

I bought live but i am selling it because its "not finished"

Live support is a bit pap

Are there many reported instances of this delete damage action?
Is there any way to save a project affected by this behaviour or a way to permanently stop Live from using the internet on a PC?

Your DAW should never see the net. Mine doesnt even have networking capabilities or a browser. I got an old laptop I use for the internet. No problems here

When my DAW was on the web, stuff used to call home and crash constantly.

Same as SubGENRE, I have a Lappie for all the Web duties and My Music PC NEVER ventures onto the web.

Not only is it a Safe way to play, it also means You can DUMP a load of crap: AV, Browser, Etc., from taking up space and resources.

Yes when I was a noob it drove me crazy I'll install everything it would be ok for one day and then the next day thing would not work. But the worst one was that c**t at tone 2 who would put sniffer's in his software even if you bought the legit version it would sniff out black listed keys and download some nasty shit onto my pc it f**kedup things for a few days. so now my DAW not on the net

the tone 2 dude is a prick

i just changed from legit to pirate ableton. i think i have tone 2 filter.

Will all my ableton project fuck up one day?

It not really a risk i want to take.

    Does Ableton crack do this?

If ableton makes it on to the net your fOOked. Nothing will get it to stop crashing. I ended up doing a reapir install of windows to stop it from crashing. And believe me, I tried EVERYTHING. I manually searched the registry and file system for Ableton and Live and deleted everything I could find. Even used the old albeton cleanup tool.

But, I was able to grab all the frozen track stems. (I freeze everything) And import them into reaper and continue working on them.

I had to do a repair install of windows7 to get the non-legit ver of ableton working again. (NOT RECOMMENDED)

I got an old system in the closet, thinking about investing in some ethernet cards and deploying the Astaro Security Gateway system on it. Maybe then I will put my DAW back on the network. Im dying to try out the Android wifi midi DAW controller apps on my galaxy s2.

    Cheers bud

    Sounds heavy.

I'm not sure if it's a risk I want to take now.

how long ago was this? What version of live, who cracked it?

Does installing a genuine copy fix the crashing?

    Sorry for all the questions.

This was last year. I tried downgrading all the way back to the "Good" 8.1 AiR release and tried different versions along the way. Suite and the regular varieties. Different registry cleaners, file system scrubbers, and no luck. I searched the hell out of google for a solution. I tried for a week to get it going.

I did find a work around. Well since my system already called home, I just kept getting a new demo key every 30 days with a new email address. BUT, the demo doesnt have the autosave/restore function that the regular versions do, and ableton is crashy. It needs unlimited undos, not to the last save :snuffy:

I read in the ableton forums about someone with the same error, and they blatantly told him, If you buy it it will go away. He did and it did.

It was a memory address violation error. Fist run from a boot, It wouldn't happen til i tried to load a project. After that, It happened almost instantly as soon as ableton was done "creating live set".

NOTE-After I did a repair install of windows 7x64, Ableton ran better that it ever did. I think it was ver 8.25 then.
