I'm looking for a midi controller. So far I've used my midi keyboard and its on-board faders (8)/ knobs (8) but I'm sure there is something that suits my needs a bit better out there...so what external controller (no keys!) would you recommend to use with reason? (and maybe also why, if there are special "reasons" :bleh: )

I know there are a lot of supported models (see the propellerheads website)but is there anything tailor-made for reason (ie I dont want to spend ages to configure it)?
I'd like to be able to control the mixer and also a few of the instruments/FXs knobs and sliders. It's not to compose but to use as if I sort of had the rack "in front of me" ..and if like my MIDI keyboard this controller also had a modwheel/pitchwheel thatd be nice, though I'm not sure such a thing exists.

basically if you know see what the nocturn is, then something in that line (but a bit better..somewhat like the apc20 for live) would be good

    thanks for your input

    @ Lysergyk,

As you're looking for a MIDI Controller and, if applicable, one 'full-tailored' for Reason, you should have a look this one :

    Nektar Panorama

All the necessary infos are within the site.
Hope it can helps !

nice piece indeed, wished they had a second one w/ keys removed ...as they are clearly useless in my case

I'm looking at the Akai APC40 (thanks One Reason!) and though it apparently works w/ reason (http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/sep09/articles/akaiapc40.htm see very end) it seems to be quite a pain to set up as it was designed for ableton's live

See if it could be good for you too, it's a top!

thanks for the info man, ... aparently designed with ableton in mind once again ...but it's bundled with automap which is a good omen, so I'll definitely have to check out whether it's not too much of a pain to set up in reason...
so far the APC is the closest to what I'm looking for...hopefully in a little while, a "reason " version of it will be for sale...hear me propellerheads! lol

Try any of the Akai Mpk series. They have reason already mapped. You can control any device that you click on. I have one. Built in arp and note repeat. Already mapped for several daws just turn preset knob and pick what daw you want to control. I know it has keys but f..ck it.

    thanks for your input! *yes*
but the thing is I already have a midi keyboard as said above and it's pretty much the same w/ pads..so not really what I had in mind.
out of curiosity, I reckon there's no difference between the mpk 25/49/61/88?...that is beside the number of keys ofc! right?

considering the dearth of decent controllers for reason, I have decided to wait until something REALLY nice finally comes out as I'm not really sold on anything ATM...the novation zero someone talked about before in this thread is not too bad but it has no pads, no mod/pitch wheels etc...
...basically an APC40 already mapped with a mod and pitch wheel would be near perfect!...but it doesnt exist...yet!
    there's always hope
