Bangkok is cheaper, Hong Kong has more English speaking people, Taiwan is better overall. I'm in Taiwan now... I would link some photos, but I need to stay anonymous with this stolen identity. :rofl:Maybe you'll find some of my reviews on Hotels.com or TripAdvisor

Its better for food, parties (particularly at W-Tapei and Omni Tapei), transportation, short high-speed rail trips to the country side for beautiful beaches. My favorite cities are Taipei (for fast-pace city life), Kenting (for resort-style experience), Hualien (for slow-pace city life). Do some research on non-audio sites.

Indeed Japan is expensive .. but for 3-4 days... as you said.. someone could suck it up..the hotels are a bit outrageous in Tokyo
and elsewhere more affordable. Still about the best price you could hope for in a decent hotel room is $100 up.
There are some budget "gaijin" houses that are very minimal and communal for less,
but who wants to wake up next to a smelly hippie anyway? :bleh:

Tokyo is quite an amazing city, taught English in eikawa there for a spell, stayed in Ikebukuro on the Yamanote line.
The most convenient large city to get around I have seen thus far, very efficient train system.

Very fun in the night, and totally safe.

ABSOLUTELY! There are no restrictions accept for government and airport areas (their city airport is also military base). Look up "Hualien Taroko park". Cost $26USD for 40 minute fly from Taipei vs $15USD for 2-3 hour train ride. The views are majestic and ideal for 4k footage. You can rent a car for cheap to drive to Taroko once you're in Hualien. I recommend renting a car because tour bus will not flex to your personal schedule. Another great place nearby is Yilan. Plenty of mountains and city views! Do some research!
