Yea,this thing is very nice but pricey.
You can get 3x used dslr`s and three different good lenses for that money and also shoot full hd.

They were selling them for $499 not so long ago and they shoot 1920x1080 with all kinds of lenses.

I'll see what comes up in the 2nd gen, but the concept looks good.

I'll leave this here for information purposes since this thread is indirectly related to music videos.

The Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera seems well suited to this task, although as I mentioned above it may be worth waiting to see what a 2nd Gen camera brings to the table, but for a 1st attempt it's actually quite good.

A great cam if you're not into natural color reproduction.

Yeah I understand what you mean but why not get the best source material possible and do stuff like color grading in postpro?
To me, it's like recording with extra noise floor on purpose for the vintage touch...

It's actually better for color grading when you work from a flat image.

This was shot with on Blackmagic cameras .. http://www.eoshd.com/2013/12/renown...c-video-blackmagic-pocket-cinema-camera-bmcc/

@fraifikmushi so what kind of video camera would you use for best color saturation ? or natural color reproduction ?

$500 is not a bad price at all for a good quality... at least not in the US
except when I checked the prices for this.. it's more like $1000 !

The flagship Blackmagic Cinema Camera is around $3000.

For some reason they were directly discounting it from their own website, but if you are producing promo videos in-house even $1,000 is not too bad :winker:

@Herr Durr I'm no expert in this field but what I'd go for is the sony alpha 68. Have you seen an actual offer for that blackmagic camera for 500$ ?

@fraifikmushi I did not see anything with that low of a price for these... maybe it was a one off that @Zenarcist saw before

I have not upgraded my digital video cam for some time.. so I am interested with these also..I'll check the sony too

just saw it at B&H $599 looks sweet.. but no lens  and not available yet... Aug.

$698 with 18-55 mm at Newegg

The BMPCC is a professional camera that shoots RAW and Pro-Res, and even at $1,000 it's still a bit of a bargain, but it is also a specialist tool, so it all depends on what you need a video camera for.

Basically BlackMagic have shaken up the market, so maybe there will be similar offerings from other manufacturers? Although saying that, traditionally the established brands have charged pro prices for pro features.

Here is some RAW footage ..
