    Hello,

does anybody know if there's a plugin that analyzes audio and tells you the chords.
Sometimes I use for instance a rhodes sampleloop and can't find the chords exactly, mostly jazz chords.
Would be great if I could insert a plugin on the insert channel of the track and it tells you the chords!

    Thanks
    Stevie Jee

not a plugin, but at least free (and quiet versatile) option could be: chordata.

    available at: http://clam-project.org/

Thought that melodyne only worked with mono tracks / instruments.
So you think it can tell you the notes played in a chord on a stereo track?

Im pretty sure (example) that it analyzes each note in a chord, you can see each note, pitch correct them, or even move singular notes from a chord to a new note.

Yeah from what I've seen, at least of the newest version of Melodyne, it's pretty powerful stuff and can do chord analysis and can actively change just one note in a chord, definitely check out the demo videos on their website

The latest Melodyne can detect and deliver its results in Polyphonic mode.

Melodyne Studio will analyse and export whatever notes you use as a midi file  *yes*

Melodyne might work well, when you let it analyse a track with an instrument, but how about a whole mix???
    That is the question here.

No dude.. ''does anybody know if there's a plugin that analyzes audio and tells you the chords ''
To analyse the whole track that would be something :wow: and not really necessary surely... *no*

Yeah, that would be too good to be true.
But will come one day, for sure.

The chord analyser of Band in a Box can be used on whole songs.
Of course it makes a lot of mistakes, but it isn't that bad as a starting point.

I think melodyne studio may also but would be amazed if it didnt make lots a mistakes and you could make it spit out midi files for all the tracks selected(kiks, snare, hats etc). I have never tried to be honest, maybe throw a track in later out of interest as im curious know *yes* Thinking about it there are about 8 save options on export of the midi but never really looked at it too much.hmmmmm :wow:
I have the melodyne studio which you can export the midi files although i have to change the file extension from .midi to .mid so that ableton will import it.I dont think that melodyne editor does the midi files (to export)but may be wrong. Will report my findings

The answer is no from what i can see on my laptop but im far from an expert with melodyne(will not analyse the track and show all the hits). Its just loading the track up in the key of the track etc.Maybe theres a restriction on length as it obviously works on loops.

i fed in a cut from one of my tracks which i put in to melodyne that was about 3 mins and it broke it down in to lots of parts :wow:
Much more than i expected..perhaps there is a limit on time length.

    Thanks for trying.
I gave up on Melodyne, because every version I tried crashed Cubase.

Melodyne is the way to go. It can't work with the whole track, but if you the track for example has a breakdown with piano chords, you can take this breakdown and analyze it in Melodyne.
BTW, if Melodyne crashes in Cubase you can just use standalone (non-VST) version of it. Or for example use something like EnergyXT.

for me, WIDI Pro does the job. actually it's quite nasty for multiple note recognition.
there's a workable cracked version online, I think through Magesy.
