No, I think crates was created by a single guy, afaik not affiliated to beatport.
I always searched for a way for digital crate digging, which was kinda impossible for me with beatport as it is... Crates really is awesome, though. With the dig deeper feature (press "d") and the search for full length versions on youtube (press "f"), whatever that might be good for ;)

I know very well what you are talking about. Some of my favorite music was classic prog house. Boy those were the good ol days.
Now everything is a fucking biproduct of dubstep and techno. Which sounds more like C3PO and the Tin man trying to reenact the meatspin:

Yeah ( .)( .) chat-tagged me to this thread. I figured the only reason why was so I could see him talking a bunch of smack. I didn't realize all the posts were super old

(Edit) Seems like a lot of badmouthing and bitterness going on in here. I don't think anyone can argue that any genre has fallen father than mine when you look at the new rap/hip hop trends, but I do less complaining than most of the techno/disco/whatever guys. Just live and let people like what they like.
