Thanks Wolverine! You killed it during your scene in the new x men, not a bad flick! This song started out from the rhythmic pad that comes in the chorus

Nice song and works great with and without vocals as well I think.
If you accept advice or opinion, try phasing a little the vocals and add some reverb on it, I think it would sound even better than it does now.

You gotta pick one. Either the percussion is too busy to compliment the vocal and everything else, or the vocal and everything else is too lazy to compliment the percussion. The vocal carries the tone of one with stage fright who is holding back. So some decisions and adjustments do need to be made. I Hope honesty is the main thing you're looking for as far as the feedback you're requesting. Your intention is probably for the song to be something people would smoke weed and lay back and listen to. If that's the case, that percussion should be less active and prevailing. And the vocals should remain sleepy, but you've gotta sound cool and confident like you could care less what's going on with the rest of the world when you record them.

dbmuzik said it already, however song gets rather funny in the middle with the water and the birds, its up the clouds not down the pond.
Self producing is not easy, keep working on it,not bad.:like:

You can't pull off "baby mama" with that kind of voice.

I'd say work on your drum pattern, also find better kick and clap. This style is similar to One republic's 'apologize'. YouTube it and gain inspiration. Nonetheless, keep it up, I hardly like sh!t out of my genre, but I like this sh!t.

You can bet your ass it moved me! Nice. Good voice as well, would love to have you sing one of my tunes! As crazy as it sounds, I actually like your kick and clap (in this beat). Dry and reduced, not trying to get all attention. I'm just not pleased with the mixing of the melody and I miss a bit of air around your voice. But that doesn't affect the composition and arrangement, which are great.

Dont ask too much for feedback and opinions, but here´s mine anyway, the vocal´s timbre is perfect for the song, pretty in tune but it lacks something... experiment duplicating the vocal track (the same) and pan the two channels left and right (not too much) add a good modulated reverb and put it a little more in front. And keep your good work against the horrid music people are hearing in these days.

:mates:Thanks for the support, this one was especially fun to make :grooves:
Hearing down by the pond made me laugh but I see where your coming from: I was trying to bring the listener back down to earth after the chorus in the clouds if that makes any sense:hillbilly:

Me too! :hifive: I've hardly use scale runs before but if I remember correctly it was in Lydian

Thanks for mentioning that :shalom: I've definitely heard it before when it was on the radio a lot, but never through my speakers. I am so surprised with the similarities! Never would have guessed

 I am glad you think so!

Kind words, Ill try it out! Welcome to the forum!

    Great Song!

Welcome, and what a entrance! I was thinking exactly the same!

my approach would be instead of drowning in duplicating, which tends to over complicate things
    I would've added a H-delay and mild limiting afterwards (I like a ca-2a combo)

cutting the low mid-low up till around 400-500 hz and the high down till around 1500-1600hz on H-delay
With the right even delay timings it really blends eg. gets pushed to the back.
I like the phase shift on one side or the ping- pong!

I would set it to 7-15 % with my daws dry/wet-knob so I barley hear it in the quiet parts, then lift up again with a La type compressor
And To top it of I would play around with the analog knob, and might automate the feedback

Although the discussion is already in full swing, there are some things I'd like to point out without getting too much into detail.

Your voice is the core element of this song. It's your voice that will cary us listeners up into those clouds, so your voice deserves to, and desperately needs to, be more emphasized. Techniques to do so are already mentioned: double tracking etc. An experienced vocalist would create different athmospheres by chaning her position to the microphone. Sing soft and tenderly from close proximity (~5-10 cm, and don't sing directly into the mic, sing closely past it) into the mic for intimacy, then, with the pads in full swing, distance yourself from the mic (~30 -40 cm) and sing the refrain from the top of your lungs, melting into doubletracking-stereo-fx-bliss.

As you've maybe already experienced, the mids are the critical frequency range in this song. The body of your voice is in the mids, and so are the pads, and both are the core elements of your song. So getting things as little mushy as can be is the critical part here, and also the most difficult. You have to separate those elements in terms of frequency, so I think I would try to get rid of the low-end of your vocals to make room for your pads, thin out the pads where they conflict with your voice and use the pads to fill the voids.
